I'm really loving this forum and all the cool people in it..I've been blessed with alot of rocks lately, tons..i've never sold rocks before, and am doing some trading to get some respect and trust in fellow hounders. I have almost all stages ..roughs, cuts 1 side, 2 side cut, tumblers, slabs ,end cut galore.. agate, jaspers ryolite petwood obsidian thundereggs all sizes...the trading will be my introduction..someday i hope to make some beer money..i know most of the ID and locations of the rocks..

I'm still finding my niche here. But so far, it seems like agates with dendrites, like Montana, and banding like Botswana. I also stand a better chance of finding an interest in Mexican Crazy Lace agates, as long as they have enough red material and sparkle in them. I believe this type of material is the best for my situation. Nobody seems interested in obsidian, plumes, or moss. Not even wood. I need nodules that can tumble down to no less than 2" round, and 3" in length.
Everybody wants orbs in a clear chalcedony, and they also prefer dendrites that float down in a nearly perfectly CLEAR Montana agate. Since I have extremely limited photography equipment, little space, and few sales, I can't afford to harbor material that can't make the grade and help me sell my workmanship. I hope this helps. I apologize for not having something that I can really offer a good trade on. Most of what I have are "factory seconds" from some of the tumbles I've been doing. Everything else, I gotta either sell, or send back to its rightful owner.

MrCoffee you said( Nobody seems interested in obsidian, plumes, or moss. Not even wood.) And in another post a while back you told a new member that had some stuff to trade or sell that everyone on here does there own work and did not want what they had. I wish you would keep any remarks you have about things to what YOU want and leave the rest of us out of your comments! There are a LOT of us on here that are VERY interested in what other people have to sell or trade! So quit being so negative to other people and stop telling them what other members want or don't want! If you don't want what they have keep it to yourself!
Deserthound I sent you a pm!

I wish i had a time machine, a nice little ocean boat, transportation to Sri Lanka, Fed Ex jet and some kind native gals
to help me collect the gem stones off the Sri Lanka beaches about 200 years ago.
Solve a whole lot of problems.
Oh well. It ain't gonna happen.
It's a lot of work collecting and selling these days.

No can of worms here. My main issue, is that there is nothing around these parts that's worth collecting. I have to order all my stuff, sight unseen, then PRAY. Sometimes, I might get lucky and sell something for $6.00, after I've rolled it for a couple months. If I do end up with some good stuff that I can't work on, that's what I have to trade. I assure you, that I will upload photos so whoever trades knows what they're getting. Sorry if I sound so gruff, didn't mean to come across that way. It's just that life is tough when you're hard up like me.

James, only 200 years ago? You'd be a little late to the party going back only that far. Sri Lankan gems have been found in both Egyptian and Roman items. The gem trade on the Island of Serendip goes back a l-o-o-ng way.

Never thought about those civilizations.

I'm always interested in Obsidian, luv to work the stuff myself, agates, all agates are good agates in my book, especially plumes... I can't get crappy plumes for less than real good money, so as far as I a concerned, You got everything I want/need, I have a nice pile of wood that I haven't touched yet, but by comparison to others here, my mountain, is more of a ant hill. but being from Florida, their are no rocks here, so my collection is from everywhere else and everyone else I can trade with. I have some Montana agate & Utah Thunder eggs if you want to trade a few for some of yours, Mexican coconuts don't do anything for me!
I can't get to my shed to post any pics, screwed up the nerve that wraps around my hip and have been reduce to a walker for a bit but will gladly send you some pics if you want to trade in the future!!
