Haven't been hitting the flat lap too much lately, but brought it out so I could take a peek inside that chunk of Brenda palm for Diane. While it was set up, well, you know how it works.
This one is Turkish rainforest Jasper from @shotgunner. Had originally planned on using it in a belt buckle, but changed my mind. Reworked it, redefining the girdle. It has a lot of depth, took a great polish.
Made this heart from a leftover piece of the "starry night" slab that I ended up using on the belt buckle (still WIP).
Had a thin piece, thought I might try a two-stone pendant. Maybe a wrap, maybe my first stab at silversmithing?
And one more little piece became a cab for a ring. Size is just over 3/4 inch long. Don't know what this material is, but it has a few shiny bits of silver colored metal in it, like lapis does.
Lastly, had some material that I think may be Chapenite? Not sure if I found this somewhere, or if it was from an estate sale. Couldn't decide which side was better, so made it a two-sided cab.
Loved the dendrites! Right side goes up.
Second cab, front
Back. Love the cool pastel colors.
Both of 'em. Thanks for looking! Jean

That's a really nice set of cabs, I especially like the Turkish Rainforest, I don't think I've seen it before.

Love the heart set and probable chapenite, but that rainforest is way cool. I was lucky enough to get some, too. It makes incredible cabs with all the different depths and things going on.
YES! I hope you do try silversmithing ... and post abt it, too.

Jean, really like your starry night material. Looks close to Namibian Pietersite and I'm sure it's a fraction of the cost.

Ed, I thought you'd like that! Thanks, Rich, and Tela, I just might. I already have silver, solder, flux, a variety of different size torches, all that stuff.
Thanks, Roger, Chuck and Brian. I really liked the Turkish piece, too, just not in a brass buckle. I think it is even prettier since I reworked the cab.
Larry, I still wonder what it is. And you know me well (thrifty!), I picked the small slab up at the PowWow for huge sum of fifty cents. You could safely say that would be a fraction of the price of the Namibian Pietersite (but don't think that's what it is), or just about any other type stone.
Well, Scott, looks like you've got some Turkish Rainforest jasper to cut up. Are you taking orders for it yet?

Aw shucks, that old thing? The rj slab came from @shotgunner . Wonder what he's gonna do with the rest of it?
Thanks, miander. I'm sure you and Fiona will soon be producing lots of cool cabs. Jean
