I really liked that last picture Tommy, it really stands out along side it's unfinished family members. That's a beautiful cab.

hi there, new here from ol blighty across the mighty pond, wanted to say hello and enter the compotition if its ok? just a few things, if I decided to cab up some opal (australian, cooper pedy ect) how can I prove the end cabouchon is from the same starting stock? ill have to consult the rules on freeform. Being that ive got stones you can no longer buy, will this make them exempt from the compatition?stinking water white plume, mexican plume (plume agates), picture jasper, rim jasperbruno canyon jasper(picture jaspers), louisanna opal , moctazuma, things like that? it seems a little unfair to put a cab of those up for compatition?? And all by 10"-24" hilquist slabbing saws, 6" trim saw and hand ground, dombed and polished by hand. i hope cabbing machines are out as it kinda defeats the object. I shall read the rules, but time is closing in, so just thaught id throw it out there. thanx Tony (one of opies little gems) (tommy, with the agate bands, have you tried grease proof paper (baking parchment) to make a kind of a cloud dome that captures the light, but isn't direct strong sunlight that the camera is fighting with, it works a treat for me, built a photo booth out of bamboo and traceing paper, cost me all of £3.50 ($6) and wot sort of sander you trying to repair? im trying to picture a roller thats fixable on a sander. plus some wet `n` dry sanding paper and elbow grease, forget those nail files, there for wimps

My wife bought me some Laguna Agate slabs for my birthday this month. (Thanks honey!) I thought I would try entering the first cabs from them in this months KCC. The first photo is the slab. I wanted to get two large cabs from it. Preforms Cabs Cab 1 Cab 2 These cabs were larger than I normally make and were frustrating to make. The wheels on my arbor only have 1/2" between them. I kept nicking them just when I was ready to move to the next wheel lol. They both turned out pretty good, though the "claw" shaped one is my favorite.

Thanks Jason, I hadn't noticed the scratches on the oval one until I posted (of course). Murphy's law lol.

Tommy that Bazillion looks like a comet streaking fire thru the universe. Really great. Jason, your Laguna is exquisite. I just threw my potential entry in the garbage. I am out of my league!
