It is cold down here this morning so i rode around securing kayak launch locations 7 AM Bridge of coastal plain chert Old cracker house Pissed off cracker dogs across the street. So i backed up and went forward 6 times to let them run the about 600 foot fence line Even the pines are in the water. It's wet season 8 AM, on the river bank. Palmettos carpet 20 feet of water on top of my coral Pointing to the sky Again, wet season, water flowing on both sides of the road Road side sink holes are very common Couple of oysters and an echinoid Y'all come back ya heah

Cracker dogs? ROFL!! Nice finds, James! Where are you in Florida? Ever find anything (coral) around the Tallahassee/Leon County area? I am in White Springs about 50 miles south on I-75 of GA Jan. The area is about coral capital of Florida. Uh, the Ecinofina has coral. Panhandle is not famous for it. Most of the clay washed down peninsular Florida to assist in coral development. I can look in my book when I get home. I am thinking there is a river in Leon that has it. But you got to pronounce these Florida Rivers perfectly before i tell you Alafia Alapahoochee Anclote Braden Carrabelle Chassahowitzka Crooked Crystal Dead East East Bay Eau Gallie Econfina Estero Homosassa Hontoon Dead Ichetucknee Imperial Little (Biscayne Bay) Little (Ochlockonee) Little Econlockhatchee Little Manatee Little Wekiva Loxahatchee Manatee Matanzas Miami New (Broward) New (Carabelle) New (Santa Fe) Oleta Pithlachascotee Rainbow Ribault Shark Silver Sopchoppy St. Lucie St. Marks St. Sebastian Steinhatchee Tomoka Trout Waccasassa Wacissa Wakulla Weeki Wachee Wekiva Pithlachascotee ?

Hey, James! Rick and I have been tubing down the Ichatucknee River a couple of times, and we've been to the Suwannee River. Is that where you are kayaking and searching for coral? Have also been to Wakulla Springs and surrounding sinkholes, such as Cherokee sinks. That's ice cold water!
Grew up in Cairo, Ga, which is 35 miles north of Tallahassee, and lived in Tallahassee with my dad a couple of years.

South Georgia is laid back and people speak with a lot of extra syllables. Yes, i use the kayak or a little motor boat. Most of the coral comes from Valdosta on the withlacoochee River. And the next best place is the Sumannee. The Withla is pretty easy, but the Suwannee has little or difficult access points.

What kind of motor do you have on your kayak? Rick has been looking at the electric motors to put on ours. Too funny that you know of the Cairo Syrupmakers. Did you know that our mascot is a syrup pitcher?

Small outboard motor? ?? I have a 1939 Evinrude Elto 1.1hp and weighs 17lbs. It can run most all day on a tank full of gas. On idle it would push a kayak pretty good. I reworked this motor and sold it last Nov......... I have one more left but it doesn't look like the one above but it does run 39don

YUP! That Spanish moss looks a whole lot better that the ice and snow clinging to our trees!
It looks like you could also find gators and snakes along with your coral.
Darryl.

I am the motor on the kayak Jan. I do have a 14 foot jon boat w/specialized motor for most of my coral expeditions. But i would gladly trade it for 39don's Elto museum motor. They do sell motorized kayaks. $. I do not know of an easy add-on motor for a kayak. Let me know if you figure one out.

True James, it is a welcome sight. At least I won't have to water the yard until July. . . Really.

They preserve well in calcium carbonate form. This is close to the one in the Suwannee River. Ave. 1.3 inches but some are 3 inches. The 5 star pattern is often in perfect detail.
