Thanks James. Believe it or not, I'd never scrolled that far down the page -- I always stopped at the Shoutbox. It all becomes clearer now...
I think you're right about the settings too. I've changed computers/software before but never before had this many problems getting things dialed-in.
BTW, does anyone here use the Pale Moon for Windows browser? Reviews? I want to get rid of Firefox and don't like IE.

On the Umberto Eco article I don’t believe all it is written by Mr. Eco Just the Mac vs. Dos part I don't know much about computers but the Eco piece is one of the funniest things I've ever read. I doubt the author of "The Name of the Rose" and "Foucalt's Pendulum" did the Mac vs. Dos part but I have a hunch who did. I'd like to hear your hunch Rick Umberto Eco is one of the funniest serious novelist ever Plus a person will be highly enriched in the thought department "Name of the Rose," Is probably the best introductory novel and certain parts are hilarious But "Foucault's Pendulum," is my all-time fave (as everyone knows) mostly

There's a parameter setting in Firefox that allows the browser to ID itself as a different browser entirely...like it tells the web server that it's IE Exploder...or Opera. Or tells nothing. I "normally" don't use that setting. A feller can get some strange results when the web server sends IE compatible pages to your Safari/Firefox/whatever browser...cuz there is a slight difference. As far as cookies go...the strange never expiring ones...I used to "tweak" the sent back response/text for the next time a site asked for it...but that's in the past... computers are just a tool to use these days. I still maintain and build my own computers, network, and firewall(s) and even program a bit of code for embedded micro-processors I use in this or that little programmable gadget I make from time to rare time. But now they are just a tool.. like a wrench...not a full time hobby like a decade ago.

I want to get rid of Firefox and don't like IE. I had the exact same thoughts about paying for ad-free Rick. I had fun reading the 'Mac for Idiots' book and trying different settings. And learned a lot about the machine. But the Mac tech solved the problem in 2 minutes. He knew what was going on after the 2nd sentence. Things are on such a technical level these days a technical wizard is perhaps mandatory. And their accessibility and communication skills. The library of settings alone are bewildering, much less knowing the results of changing them. I have no problem w/advertisement and understand that they pay the bills for forums. As long as they do not slow the computer or block text.

... and those ads have taught me to concentrate on what I want to read and ignore ads! So many ads, and I don't even absorb them.

Pat, I was getting hyperllnked words everywhere. Just in this 2 sentence post there would be 2-3 hyperlinks.
