Since I am greener then a gourd at figuring out what kind of rocks I have... this is a hard-ish rock.. looks like a fossil of some sort.. maybe? Kinda looks like a Marigold bloom after it dries.. So...what do I have? Is it one of them there Shoulda-Lefterite stones? Pardon the dirty chewed up by a diamond wheel thumbnail...but it is what it is.

Really looks like a couple of teeth and piece of jaw. A location would help narrow down the guesses.

I found this in a gravel bar on the Arkansas River around Dardanelle, Ar....just below the dam. Top pic..top of stone/rock/whatever...right side going down slope is full of same things...in other words the whole top..as I am holding it in pic...is covered with these "things". Irregular spacing's..little and big sizes interspersed. It does look organic in origin...but I am just making a SWAG.. It looked interesting enuff to pick up and carry home.

Looks like equisetum fossils. It is often found in grainy rock in AL/MS Stephant. Especially looking at the 2nd photo. Look at 'horsetail plant fossils' -Yahoo images, and see if you see any similarities. Horsetail fossils in Mid west Alabama can be 1/4 inch stems to 10 inch diameter stems. Many times are flattened thin and leave a 2 dim impression, may are 3 dim.

Most of what I can tell without cutting it, the individual "stems parts"/marigold bloom looking are 3 dimensional. I guess I will keep it in one piece..actually have 2 pieces of it. It will be a shelf space occupant I guess.. Thanks for the info everybody.
