Do yourself a favor and get at least a 7" tile saw. You'll outgrow the 4" in no time. I outgrew my 7" immediately and still haven't upgraded. My tilesaw is a cheapie from the bigbox store. A skilcraft, I believe, for under 100. I think it is going on 3 years with no troubles. Just get a good blade. Try to find a used foredom type rotary tool. Or, even the dremel attachment that is a separate long handpiece. The handpieces in those are not electric. HOWEVER, I'm not positive that you could still use one without hazard. Maybe someone else can chime in or you could do another post with the question. My friend uses a foredom to polish rocks, but she is using the bowl dipping method and not submersing it.

I was looking at the 7" but I can't really find large slabs to work with locally unless I make it to the rock show that comes around once a year but there's no guarantee I can make it when it does. The 4 should be a good starter at least to get a feel for what is ahead and then I'll figure out where I can go from there. I'm hesitant to buy slabs online, my mail carrier is an idiot :/ I've been using my cordless drill with grinding bits but that doesn't cover a lot of surface area and started looking at grinders. I'll definitely figure something out even if I gotta save up for a bit before I can do anything. Thanks
