Their webpage is at www.luckystrikemines.com/ Click on the "About the Mines" link. They mention selling rough by mail at the bottom of the page and also at the beginning of the "Mined Products" page. I don't see a web page on their site from which to order eggs. I'd give them a call. They are nice people.

Getting back to the subject of eggs..........If you google thundereggs for sale, there are many businesses now that sell eggs........ Don't over pay for them either... Going rate is $1.00 to $2.50 a pound,as long as they are not from New Mexico and their eggs..(They are very expensive!)

I participate often, selling many unusual stones :-) 1Dave So where do we who refuse to facebook, tweet, etc. find youse guys? Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/66102/orienting-cutting-thundereggs#ixzz4gLUmFWOp1 Dave made a good comment on refusing to Facebook. Putting all your eggs in one basket on Facebook can cause you to lose sales. Most people sell in multiple venues but guys like Dave and I just buy else where else if your business is on Facebook. Know that I'm speaking to the choir on the established, successful businesses but might open an eye or two for newer businesses if you only rely on one place to sell from. If Dave, me and many other people who don't use Facebook spend half as much as I do then there are some serious sales lost. Second the Lucky Strike eggs.

Hopefully, the Richardsons, where this was filmed, will reopen the ranch for digging. Disappointing that they decided to close down the fee dig - was fun just driving through the incredible scenery on the ranch. They have plenty of eggs stocked at their shop, but was so fun for kids to hunt them.

Wow old post...… Ok As for Roy Kessell and Jason Hinkle their names are very reputable in the rock world and very upstanding people! They sell and treat you very well! As for thundereggs... The Richardson Ranch, the digging is closed indefinitely. The Lucky Strike mine is by app. only and you have to join their site to collect eggs there now... They had a string of bad luck with robberies and etc up there, they just got tired of it! Many estate sale with Lapidary have old stock thundereggs for sale and some do go for a very sweet low price... As for cutting eggs now, I usually can't explain how to cut them, but sure as heck can show you how to cut them.. I hoarded a few hundred pounds of eggs away in the corner of my shop and I'm glad I did... I have sold half my stock to invest in more equipment for Lapidary... Will always have thundereggs in my shop and always know the best sellers to go to.. As for cutting eggs, my favorite cuts are the Buchannan and Richardson Ranch "Blue Bed" eggs.. Beautiful eggs... Things have changed a bit in some hounding areas and its good to get information about them before you head out... Like the Richardson Ranch, they still sell at the shop (great area)..App only at the Lucky Strike mine.. Polka Dot mine, usually call ahead... Best of all, just get out there and have fun......

And still plenty of sites on public lands where you can dig thundereggs for free (though there is a limit on the number of pounds you can take). Most of the guidebooks cover a number of those sites, and for the central part of Oregon, you can stop by the Prineville Chamber of Commerce, or a Forest Service/BLM office and grab a Central Oregon Rockhounding Map that shows the locations for thundereggs, obsidian, etc.
