Yeee Ha! Damn the torpedoes indeed! You got some real beauties there. I've cut lakers in the past. Basically chopped 'em in half and tumbled 'em. Might make them less valuable but not to me. I have a bunch of larger one in waiting right now. My plan for them is to tumble them for 3 or 4 weeks and see what I can see. With any luck they will reveal something interesting to cut through. Next cut and finish the tumble

Anyway you "slice" it lakers are awesome agates. The value of the rock never comes in to play when your keeping them. What ever you like best is exactly how you should do it. Did you slice them thick enough to cab or are they fro tumbling?

Jugglerguy - some of them will get tumbled & Drummond Island Rocks - some of them did yield some nice pieces for cabbing. I still have 10-15lbs left to figure out what to do with down the road, but I've had some great results with cutting them thus far and they take an incredible polish when tumbled - so we'll see how many make it to the "to be cabbed down the road" box.

Those are similar to Iant's agates from Scotland. Fine. Sorry, there is to much going inside of those not to be cut.

To me, those, with the exception of the grey ones in the middle in the second pic are junkers. Those white filled one are the bane of my agate hunting. I am right on the line that the glaciers dumped the agates on so I see a lot of lakers. Not a huge amount of awesome ones though or huge ones.

I just wish the glacier would have dumped better agates in my area. There are wonderful ones, but way too many with no fortification.

just to verify the "beauty is in the eye" I find the fortification agates a bit boring. stripes, all just stripes... I find all the odd ducks with swirls, plumes, spouts, tubes and eyes, especially ones which are mixed much more appealing. Good thing there is something for everybody out there!

Right!
They are great too.
I just end up with a lot more of the ones that filled in with plain white crystals. I have a large nodule with no cracks, chips or flaws. I found it here, but I just know that if I crack it open to see inside, it will be a white inside egg.
I just took the batch I found last week out of the tumbler and there are some real nice ones. Most are not forts except for one really nice one. The red eggs stayed in Moose Lake.

If most of these would be your junkers, feel free to PM me your Paypal and I'd be happy to relieve you of a LFRB, MFRB, or SFRB of those pesky buggers for ya, after all, I wouldn't want them getting in your way as you hunt for those elusive giants & gems that you seek!! We don't all have the luxury of being able to kick these plain janes out of the way like you obviously do, so let me help you clear out all the junkers you care to share
