NICE looking website bcrockhound. Your tumbled Dallasite looks fantastic! I see your rough for sale comes in .5 - 3 inches. Any chance on 10 pounds but without the smalls? Say 2" and up? Thanks for that! I've just been lazy updating that part. I can sell any size. Shoot me a PM. I was going to offer it to people on this forum but didn't want to get ahead of myself or impose, and I wanted to gauge the interest/workability/preferences first. Edit: I included shipping in the prices. I was going to offer for less on this forum. I can do samples too. PM and I'll do my best to get you something you like.

I sent an assortment of Dallasite-ish rocks. Some of those are amygdaloidal basalt. I also just sent stuff I wanted to see cut. Dallasite is made of quartz, epidote, pumpelleyite and basalt. There is lots of rock around my area that looks similar, although some of the other stuff after cutting didn't turn out well as you seen.

I'll just add that I'll be glad when this is over. I was trying to help out the guy by trading rocks for some slabs. He's insulted the material every step of the way. Just been a pain. That's it for me. Please review the 1st reply I ever sent to you, I have no market in my area for that type of material. I did tell you the cost if i did not like the material for trade.. .35 per square inch.. i even gave you a better discount than that after seeing the size of the rocks reducing the price by a lot for you.. to $1.25 per slab (with a Minumum area of 4 square inches which comes out to $1.40 for the .35 per square inch price) Here is the exact 1st message i sent back if you deleted it (excluding my address).. Please don't say that i insulted you by saying i have no market for that material. Also you did not tell me that your material sells for $5-13 per pound to begin with, i would not have agreed to cutting for any possible trade if that was the case. I told you up front what i later confirmed after cutting... so please don't say i "insult your rocks" when i say i have no market for that type of rock. I don't mean to claim you did anything wrong. I just found a clash with your personality I guess. It's okay.

I a not going to argue but i address what is wrongfully said or quoted with exactly and only the truth..
I am only trying to be helpful for everyone here giving the most reasonable prices i can without going under the cost of cutting.
Don't lose this service for those who need it as might happen soon.
If someone on here is willing to use a 16 inch saw and cut for .10 or .20 cents per square inch like some folks might want using mineral oil to people they don't really know, throw up a thread and notify me... this one will then go away.

glennz01, if you don't like the materials that members send to you for trade and cutting services, then you charge them .35/inch? Dallasite is really nice material. I have a couple of slabs of it and some of the BC Flowerstone. Both make beautiful cabs and sure would not mind having a sphere of the flowerstone myself. Have you cut any thundereggs? Such as Priday?

If i have no market or no personal interest in the rock i would charge the person if they are ok with it (i check beforehand) If i like some a few things i cut the prices back accordingly. I have not cut too much stuff friday, it took me 3 hours to cut all the Dallisite for BCRockhound and only left me 30 min for myself... I did cut a nice agate and a few things i found on my last trip. I will have too much homework to do this week if i want to have any chance of going rock hounding this weekend.. i might cut stuff on monday. I have a friend that is sending me up some agate/ jasper/ pet wood/ and possible thunder eggs from Washington in trade for cuts/ preforums and possibly cabing work. I have not really found any great Alaskan thunder eggs though... cant get to where they come out.

Here is what i cut last weekend excluding the slab in the middle, all found locally. hard to tell but the green rock has lots of purple orbs, the agate has lots of pink in it.. I will probably only get 1 nice cab / pendant from the rhyolite

Glenn,
I have 6 automatic slab saws and I refuse to cut for anyone else especially online. I have learned that no matter the situation, when you cut stone for someone else (cutting service) it never seems to end well. Someone always seems unhappy. My turning point was when I cut a 4" wide rock for a lady, when I sent it back the slabs did not make up 4" in width anymore. So she implied that I was ripping her off. I didn't keep a single slab for cutting it because it was just a junk piece of agate. She did not understand that the blade width is lost on every cut. I think in total with that wide blade 1/2 inch was lost and she claimed I stole 3 slabs from the rock. Situations like that are not worth the headache. I buy and mine my own stones. Cut the stones and sell some of the slabs. It's a much better way to go.
Just my 2 cents.
Jason

Well said, Jason. I realize not everyone has access to a saw, but nearly everyone can get to one and watch it work and enjoy the miracle of the birth of a slab and its entry into light. The special cases that require "BIG" saws, or "Special Blades" are possible exceptions but those should be between folks that are deep into the game and cognizant of the risks and benefits. Enthusiasm does not trump experience. Tom

Jason hell ive cut rocks for people for free in the past, and somehow I didn't even do that right.its a risky buisness ive cut rocks for people and when it didnt look as killer on the inside as the out somehow it was my fault and not only didnt want to pay for the slabbing they didn't even want there junky rock back. there are two quotes i will mention... not sure what famous people said them.
"No matter what you do someone will always disapprove or hate you for it"
"You can't make everyone happy, but that doesn't have to stop you from trying"

Shoot, Ole Jim ( Wampidy) cut up a bunch of big jade hunks for me for shares and he was so generous I couldn't get him to keep enough slabs from what he cut. Fine fellow, Wampidy!.....Mel

Shoot Mel, I just gave you half and one because it was very good jade, not just some dumb ol rock that ain't worth nuthin. AND I was damn happy to get that much. I have made a lot of purdy rings from that stuff and still have quite a bit stuck away. Jim
Edited to say that there is some of that stone on the e-cig holders that I just posted. Keep finding new ways to use it all the time. Best deal I have ever made.

Hi - I am looking for someone to slab several pounds of jaspers & agates. Your name came up in a search - do you still do that?

Welcome to the forum Will. Saying where you are may find you a member here in your neck of the woods. Do you have any lapidary clubs in your area?

I live in Maryland. Joined a lapidary/rockhound club, but no one had a big enough saw. I have a bunch of material that I purchased from Goodnow's back in the '90s - picture jaspers, morrison ranch, purple sage, porcelain and some newer lots of Mooka and Royal Sahara. Willian to trade or pay.
