Let me rephrase.. In terms of what I would pay for the above sample $25 - $35 would be the best that I could afford..
Lastly, this sample would not see a slab saw.. it would go right on my shelf..

The fog will quickly burn away when you discard that outlier listing from your thought process. I know you can never "unsee" it, but you can ignore it. Back in my pet shop days I had a client whom hatched a two headed tortoise. She raised it carefully for a year to make sure it was a viable specimen. At one year she took it to a show and put a $25,000 price tag on it. Secretly she told me "she would take $15,000". I happened to witness an overseas visitor offer $5,000 cash and she turned it down. I knew this man and spoke to him later. He said the offer was still there and he would pay me $500 if I could make the deal happen. I stayed in touch with this woman trying to resurrect the deal. She was too stubborn having seen another similar but much nicer specimen sell for $15,000, she wanted that much too. Then one day she visited my store, once again I inquired, this time to learn her tortoise had died. While you do risk someone staking a claim on a new find thus making this stone plentiful and less than $5/lb; at least your stones won't die.

I would consider the stone in the pic to be more of a specimen. Always a shame to chop up youngite for slabs as slabs tend to be real vuggy while specimens are really pretty. I've heard the site is not open or maybe all dug out now so what is available is from older collections. Because of that, prices I've seen are all over the place. Best to offer it in an auction format to see what the market yields......Mel I got this chunk on ebay a few years ago. Worlds ugliest specimen: The slabs are almost to solid:

None of the specimens in this thread have the the appropriate color to be Youngite. Maybe it's the lighting or photo quality.

I think this is an issue of screen color variations. The pictures are clearly Youngite.

Yeah, Youngite comes in an assortment of pastel colors, sometimes all in the same piece. The more common color though is, to me, sort of a pinkish tone....Mel
