Good thread , now I am going to try and make one as well. The help on this board is excellent. I like the note to off-set the motor with a pulley rig to minimize the risk of water getting into it.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned. The direction the nut on your arbor tightens. If you're running the motor clockwise rotation, you'll want an arbor with a left hand threaded nut. Reason being if the nut tightens in the same direction as the motor rotates, it's possible that the nut will back itself off. Your lap disc will begin to flop around, ruining the center hole and possibly doing damage to you as well. If both turn in the same direction, you can cure this possible problem by switching the rotation of the motor. No need to buy a left hand arbor.

Very nice machine...so its not a problem to run 1725 rpm. With a 6" diamond disk.
