Nice Rhodochrosite Diane! Beautiful wrap for that stone. This one was crafted by Mother Nature - I call it The Miner's Heart

this is calculated to make a heart collector drool! I love this thread!!!! here is a natural heart shape which has been broken and mended again, all by itself. Seems pretty solid... not a traditional or classic heart shape, my husband said it looks like a turkey heart!
I hope this thread keeps going and going... beautiful hearts!

All I can really tell you about that piece is it's agate with druzy pocket. It came, I think, in a 'care package' of scraps from a friend, and was too thin to make a conventional cab. It was my first attempt with working anything with a pocket, and I was really concerned about getting dop wax in the cavity. Covered it with a bit of blue painters tape, and managed to keep it clean. Wish I could find some more.

How are you producing a rainbow consistently like that. It's really quite nice!

Ok,I have a few heart shaped rocks that are from the late 1800's and earl 1900's.............. Native American Indians around the Mussellshell Valley area in Montana made charms and good luck pieces before they would go into battles and etc...Put them in their medicine bags for protection........... I thought is was weird finding these, till I showed my Uncle Henry what I was finding...He than told me the story and showed me his finds too............... I usually found these in and around their known camping areas....

WOW! you found them? heart artefacts! never heard that
I always wondered about the closeness of arrowheads and the heart shape were I think they are intricately linked

heartifacts! those are cool Fossilman, I have a friend who picks up natural heart shaped rocks... those look like they could be natural if you didn't know better. Now I want to go look at her collection and see if I can see old signs of shaping. I had no idea this was done. So cool!
