It was very overcast so the true colors don't really come through, but it ain't snowing today so I had to take this break in the weather to get any outside pics. There's a bit of everything in this batch and I'm pretty happy with most of the preforms, the hematite in jasper is probably one of my favorites I've tumbled thus far even though it didn't take a killer shine like some of the other stuff did. Not sure what the material is in the last pic but it took a great shine so I assume it's gotta be some type of agate (I'm still about 95% sure it came in with some Mad River agate I picked up on ebay). whole batch The Lace(s) Flint Ridge flint (always fun to see it from source collected to final polish) Wonderstone preforms Kaleidoscope jasper Plasma agate & the hematite in jasper And the mystery agate

Those mystery agates could be a poppy jasper like morgan hill? That piece of jasper/hematite is my favorite too. That should make a cool pendant. Chuck

Nice tumbles, great variety. That could be Morgan Hill Poppy, but I'm no expert.

The flint ridge and the jasper/hematite are over the top. that jasper/hematite is real solid. That is a darker load, sunlight would really show those best, cause they have great patterns and color.

I'm hoping for the sun to break through sometime in the next 4 days, if it does you can bet that I'm gonna get some much better pics.

jamesp - here ya go - finally have some sunshine today!! That set them on fire. A little bit more grinding and you will have cabs. Relatives damage my inventory too. Did the wonderstone polish as well as the harder agates ? It does not look like it rounded much more than the agate.

Yeah - better light certainly brought out a lot in these. As for the grinding & cabs - all of my preforming is done via my tile saw so it's not a bad start, at least until I get a cabbing machine of some sort and can make proper cabs. I was surprised that the Wonderstone retained as much material as it did when I put it through the initial grind but I did keep aclose eye on it too, it didn't get anywhere close to the "glassy" shine that the agates did, but it did put on what I would call more of a "satin" shine.

It can have varying amounts of silica in it. I just heat treated some wonderstone, looks like it will improve it's ability to polish. yes, a cab machine will have you making jewels or sure.
