Sadly we had to say goodbye to our beloved girl Kira today. I'm still at a loss for words and just feeling bad inside ... I'll try to say more later. Rockhounding with us at Stony Creek. She had SO much fun that day - and it was her last "big" trip.

My condolences Tommy. I have quit having pets because it is so hard when their life comes to the end. I still tear up sometimes when I think about the last one I had to put down twenty years ago. All but one memory is good though so when you think about him/her try to swing your thoughts over to the good ones. It helped me a lot. Jim

It's tough, I am a dog guy. Always at least one by my side, usually two.... They are great companions. The void is big when they are gone but the joy they bring is huge. A little piece of myself goes with them....For me, having a second or getting another right away helps me heal. You will find your own way.

I'm so sorry Tommy. There are really no words to express the loss we feel when they leave us.
We recently lost our rottie girl, hence my sig line.
That payment due for those years of love can be unbearable.
Try to keep busy and remember all the good times and love. Rest well Kira

Tommy do not fear. My Vet says they leave us to go on and be fitted with wings.....then they are in truth an angel above that continues to love and guard us.....

All-ways forgiving, then dying to help prepare us for the loss of our special humans. Indeed, man's best friend.

A poem by Billy Collins that grabbed me ....
A DOG ON HIS MASTER
As young as I look, I am growing older faster than he, seven to one is the ratio they tend to say. Whatever the number, I will pass him one day and take the lead the way I do on our walks in the woods. And if this ever manages to cross his mind, it would be the sweetest shadow I have ever cast on snow or grass.

So sorry for your loss Tommy. I have had 2 dear friends like yours pass and I know it hurts. Try to remember the good times and also what a great life you provided for her.
God got it pretty much perfect when he made dogs. Them leaving is the bad part.
Best wishes.

What a beautiful dog! You will forever cherish your time spent with her. I lost my "dog for life" many, many years ago. It still feels like yesterday sometimes. They are such devoted and loving creatures. You have my sincere condolences.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of ones soul remains unawakened. Sorry for your loss.
