Happy New Year back to you Tom. Any New Year's resolutions ? since we are both perfect they aren't necessary: why did I even ask ?
Having been an engineer in a manufacturing plant for years I caught serious flack from 200 plant workers.
Not many forms of harassment that did not come my way. The more they messed w/me the better I seemed to perform. Kinda sick eh ?
I do like this quartz grit. It is clear, no milky or brown slurry, but you can not tell if it has coated the rocks.
Like when you crank up the vibe and add white AO and can see it starting to distribute in the rocks, not this grit.
I got a beef w/bigger sot rocks, they are flat hard to tumble w/out getting bruises. That has been ongoing problem.
Really got to limit the number of biggies in the lot.
I agree with what you are saying about softer grit; you may be stealing from Paul and giving to Pete LOL. Again, will see.
I found a grit classifier in the junk yard and bought it for nothing, just the screen canisters, not the mechanized shaker.
The finest screen is for sifting like 400 grit, weave is around 200 threads per inch. Was thinking about taking felspar dust
and making some 400 grit felspar for tumbling onyx or our beautiful Georgia marbles. The finest classifier screen made
is 635 strands per inch, which would sift 1000 grit. 635 mesh stainless 316. A 3 foot X 3 foot piece costs like $500, and that is out of China !
Those are for sorting perfect grit. You could probably get by with a bed sheet for sifting tumbling grit. Throw a couple of shovels worth
of crush and run from the quarry on the sheet and sift the fines out. crush and run granite is $10 per ton here in Georgia.
another project for another day to occupy the Aspergers syndrome.
Keep captbob at bay for me, or join forces w/him, suits me either way.
