@arrowheadave
They say hollow points don't reliably expand, but a .45 never gets smaller. Those grips are among the coolest things I've ever seen. Dang, another reason to buy a new .45. Thanks for posting the awesome photos.

Those are gorgeous grips Dave @arrowheadave. Great job! Your work and some others have inspired me to try some one of these days. Dang price of 1911's went through the roof a decade ago though. Except for being a bit heavy and somewhat slippery, grips are an ideal use of stone. For example check out some interesting petrified wood work from Dan Chinnock:

Thank you panamark.That is some mighty fine inlay grips.i hade another set out of grain matched Palm,but dropped one doh!!!!and the next slab didnt match well enough. Needless to say the unbroken one was useless.probably eventually cut it down and mount it in silver Dave

Those are really nice. It looks like I've already seen them . Talk about a custom gun. I'm impressed.

I'd kill for a set of petrified wood grips for my Baretta 92FS if anyone is willing to make them.

Those are truly beautiful! I've looked at some stone grips for one of my 45s but I finally decided I shoot mine too much and prefer the rougher grips of synthetics like G10 or micarta. If I ever build me up a BBQ gun for open carry though, man them stone grips sure are purdy!. I even saw some tho other day made of fossil mammoth tooth...Mel

@arrowheadave bushmanbilly Sabre52The tiger is really great for those grips. I wonder if any good slabs of Psilomelan can be found large enough for grips? I bought a bunch but it was all small. I think it would be killer for grips or scales. Chuck

Dave I got about a dozen small pieces on ebay a couple years ago but after the mess making the first cabs I have not touched it again. lol I think it would be worth it for some grip or scales though.
