That seems like it would be hard to do. You did well! Ha ha. It takes time just like any cab. Just a little more work and angle grinding

I'm not even going to try to understand this practice, and will refrain from posting any of several comments that have crossed my mind, because broseph82 is much larger than I am and doesn't live all that far away. it hurts when I bite my tongue this hard

I want to enjoy my rocks without having something around my neck. It's nothing complicated. I got them pierced and sized up to what they are because of my love for rocks. Rocks rocks rocks rocks.

It's THIS kinda stuff I don't understand - taking it to the extreme So... this guy likes Diet Coke? Wonder what this guy was thinking. And better yet, where does he work? Their parents must be so proud! From the images on Google, I don't suppose the holes close up by themselves once the plug is removed...? Jimmy Buffet has a song with a line in it talking about "a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling". Wonder how that prize in the pic above is gonna look back on his "expressing his feelings" (whatever) phase of his life when he's in his 40s or 50s - if he makes it that long. Nice work on the blue lace agate BTW

captbob 1st pic- guy was showing off. 2nd pic- guy is probably a piercer. With that many body modifications it usually indicates a piercer. Also, the holes DO close back up. Maybe not completely, but when my stones have fallen out of my ears overnight they've closed up by 2 sizes and I've had to painfully stretch them back up (in the beginning). Now I wear silicone at night so its soft and flexible unlike the stone that weighs my lobes down. I wont ever go that big so don't worry. Just big enough so I and others can appreciate the stones I work with. The smaller the plug the less surface area you get to see (i.e. moss agate- looks good in bigger sizes and not so good in smaller).

Couldn't a "plug" be made where the stone front is much larger than the plug part that goes in the lobe, thereby requiring a much smaller hole?
Or for that matter, a round cab with something glued (whatever) to the back so it holds on (goes through) the ear lobe like pierced earrings? This way, you would get the stone without much of a hole.
Macht nichts, just puzzling to me. But then, I hope to leave this world with the same number of holes (and tattoos) that I had coming in. (Totalitarian Government gun confiscation raids aside)

captbob yes, but if the front flare was too big in comparison to the whole plug, then it would be front heavy and possible fall out (they make something called 'O-rings' for this, but they do fail. Yes, you could cab something and glue it do a solid surface and do it that way. I was going to do this, but haven't gotten around to it. Stone is natural and goes well with the body. Metal and acrylic not so much. I stepped outside my box. You only have one life here, so why not right?

Would anyone seal this pocket up with epoxy? I really want to throw it in the lot-o for the shine when I'm done, but I'm afraid the polish will gunk the inside up. Thoughts?
