Thank you rockpickerforever for the wind blown sandblasted pet wood chunks. They came ready to march in the tumbler-perfect size and shape. So sand blasted that the growth rings protruded. Must have laid on the surface for many sand storms. Intention is to leave them as found natural except add a shine. A day in SiC 80, another dose of SiC 80 without clean out for a second day. Cleaned out and now running in AO 500. All w/sugar at 1.5 cups/14 pounds. 50% by volume small chips of coral as media that had sharp edges removed from a couple of weeks in the rotary with coarse SiC. Rocks roll much faster with the lighter coral chips than the heavy garnet media. Not sure which is better.

Cannot wait to see these finished! Has your vibe hypnotized you yet, jamesp? First time I watched one of your cool vibe vids with the volume turned on. Sounds like a lil tractor.

These are going to turn out great! Curious to see how the flat coral chips work as a media in the vibe Ian. Coral is quick to polish. Has a much lower density than garnets. And a broad mix of sizes and shapes. Coral chips that were sized by sifting thru a 1/2 X 3/4 inch screen basket and then tumbled in coarse grit in the rotary. They are the remnants from knapping coral tumbles. Pointed flat media vs rounded media, light weight and smooth. Good void filler. They do well for filler in the rotary when tumbling large rocks. Protecting them from banging and assisting grinding between the large voids between the large rocks.

I now keep all my small agate chips to take along for the ride and fill the voids.

The wood is lagging, not as, but getting a shine.

jamesp, how much water did you add to your vibe? It doesn't look like there's much water in it. Mesmerizing to watch it tumble in your vids. ..Wondered if he has a walk-in closet full on display racks... ahaha!! He has a pair to match his clothing for the day, captbob. Color-coordinated.

About a 1/4 of a 12 ounce water bottle Jan. But 1.5 cups of sugar. The sugar slows it way down, but stops the rattling rocks. It is turned down to a medium vibration rate too. It is slow compared to most I would guess.

ROFL! Wow, that's a lot of glasses (just 1/4th of 'em?), but they sure are purty, jamesp! Do you wear them for safety, reading, or both?

Thanks, jamesp. Looks like your vibe is moving pretty fast at medium setting. May have to get the TV-5 on a sugar kick, especially if adding the sugar helps alleviate some of the noise, plus the added bonus of making tumbles prettier.

Corn starch is supposed to be even better. Have not tried it. when I use those heavy garnets it sure slows things down. Them suckas are heavy.

ROFL, captbob! Will have to check out Robinson's Salvage in Carrollton, jamesp. That's a killer price for glasses. Wonder if garock has a collection of glasses, too. Doesn't he live in Carrollton?
