Just bought about 20lbs of rough from them. Should I be worried?

It's some [hopefully] high flash labradorite. Said they had a couple thousand pounds of the high flash stuff. So we shall see. Casey said it was nice stuff so I thought id ask here after the fact. darrad

It's a great place to visit. I thought it would be all thunder eggs from their claims. Huge piles of everything from everywhere. They cut a lot of spheres so have a lot of scrap rock from coring preforms that were interesting. The older John was still alive when I was there and he was quite a character. I see John Jr. every year at Tucson. Nice people.

Our local club did a group order a couple of years ago; we ordered lots of different stuff. Quality of material varied from excellent to poor, depending on the material. The paiute agate was crap - monotone dingy/dark brown, LOADED with chalky spots. But, in all fairness, there was only one stone, and stones vary a lot, even within the same type. The antelope jasper was A+ (and at $1 a pound, a really good buy), the adventurine was good, the polka dot agate was around 70% to 80% associated jasper - which I was fine with, I really like the jasper. Other folks ordered labradorite, which looked good.
Overall, the prices were good, the material mostly good, I count the experience as positive, and I would order again. I might pass on the paiute agate, however!

I've made a couple of spheres from Paulina agate from Richardson's Ranch. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/55004/paulina-agate-spheres I thought it was great stuff, but then I handpicked the pieces myself from the pile. My guess is that you just got one of the rocks that looked good on the outside, but otherwise was a fail. Last time I was there they had a huge pile of Paulina agate. I still have several pieces in my rock pile of stuff to work on. I plan to go there again this summer. Chance to add to my pile of uncut thundereggs.

The following Monday he drove his old wreck to work. "Where's your new truck?" "I took it out into the hills where I knew there was petrified wood. We found a nice log about three feet long and two feet in diameter. We dug into the hillside and backed the truck up perfect. Let the tail gate down, then levered the log into position and started it rolling - right into the bed and on into the front seat."

If you figure out the Board Feet of that log it will only yield the equivalent of about 35 - 2X4X8's. I would think any pickup would be able to handle to handle a small load like that. .....................MrP
