I started planting tomatoes this morning.7 inches of rain the last week and a half makes a lot of my garden off limits for a few days.Had to start my earlier plants, were getting too leggy in the hothouse. Thanks for looking. snuffy

and ya gots peppers coming on too. Nice to know spring is here. I had to unplug my Lot-o, supposed to be 6 degrees tonight and everything was icing up already (24 right now, hasn't been above freezing in 2 days) I haven't started tomato seeds yet, but I'm thinking of it.

Alright, snuffy! Wow, that's a lot of 'maters! Gonna keep you busy -0 again. Don't have that many 'maters going right now, but the ones I have are leftovers from last year. Still producing, as are the pepper plants.
Due to the ongoing drought, may have to cut back a little this year. Will pick up a bale of oat straw from the feed store to mulch the garden and reduce water evaporation. When this clay soil dries out, it has cracks four to six inches deep.

Fine starts snuffy. Hope your frosts are long gone. Looks like one is setting up next Sunday morning here. Looks like you have 4-5 tomato varieties.

snuffy- Rutgers, romano, patio, what other varities are you planting? 6 degrees out last night, can't wait to get a few seedlings going. too soon yet. Sowing MId April will give young plants about an 8 week start on our short growing season. (Late May early June to plant frost free) I gotta get cold frames and a greenhouse.

The bulk of my plants are Celebrity variety.I buy 18 every week and pot them up,thus the difference in sizes.A 6-pack of Early Girl,6-pk of Porters, and 6 Sweet 100's make up the rest. snuffy

Wow, that is a lot of tomato plants. I usually only put out 6 'mater plants and only one of the Sweet 100's and it's more than my family can eat in a season. We've finally warmed up here in Tennessee, but now they have put that dreaded four letter 'S' word back in the forecast for this weekend.

Yum to die for! Notice how the tomatoes are hiding behind the bacon?
Agree with Jan, peanut butter and mayo? Yuck! Save the PB for making sandwiches with the Jalapeno Jelly! Perfection!

Snuffy, I should have shown our tomato plants photos of what REAL tomato plants look like. We just fed ours to tomato worms. Good thing friends grow them successfully. We are pretty good with our one artichoke plant!
Going to plant pepper seeds in a day or two. Yum!

This is my 41st spring garden.Seriously thinking about cutting back on my tomato crop next year.I give away most of my production to relatives and older friends who can no longer garden. But I'm running out of older folks as the years go by,by golly I'm getting in that group myself.Hardly no one gardens here anymore,no youngsters starting. Guess too much work and hard to do holding and texting on a cell phone. I did haul over 300 bags of leaves from curbside this winter, figured it may be my last year to do that.Dang it,guess I'm just tired from the last few days of pretty weather.Get the yard mowed, weedeated, new beds planted, will walk out in a couple weeks, look it over, and begin planning for next year!!!
