Sawed off bamboo generating white and orange botryoidal fungus. Yum. It has been too wet here. Will give $4 to anyone sampling a spoonful

seriously, is it more than a couple random plants affected? I know how damaging that sort of thing can be to a crop of plants. Hopefully there is a way to stop its progress before damage is done?

Potted plants coming along fine, as of a few days ago: www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157651454759109not a problem snowmom, aquatic plants can take the humidity. the bamboo is just a hobby, even the live bamboo is getting a crop of lichens. I don't think it hurts anything

jamesp, how do you handle the mosquitoes during the summer months? Do you put something in the water? What do you have your hand submerged in? (in your photos)

jamesp looks like the plants are doing great. Not sure where you get the time with rocks this time of the year. Is that bike a 750. Sure looks like it to me but has been many years sense I had mine. I put an 850 kit into the 750 and had to get rid of it after only a couple thousand miles. I was too young and didn't want to die..............MrP

jamesp, how do you handle the mosquitoes during the summer months? Do you put something in the water? What do you have your hand submerged in? (in your photos) No mosquitos here. Bats, frogs, tadpoles and mosquito minnows. In the evening the frogs are so loud you can not hear others talking outside. The shallow water and heavy aquatic vegetation provides habitat for there mosquito eaters. I have introduced bass into some of the lily ponds. Those ponds have no frogs, the bass eat them. The bass seem to grow to 3 pounds in one year. Some easy fishing out there, amazing what providing habitat will do for fish, unlike a naked lake. the floating weed is azolla caroliniana, a floating fern that is a nitrogen fixer like beans and legumes. peculiar plant, the more it grows the more it fertilizes. It is devastating to some of my plants like water lilies. Covering them up and choking them. Coons and foxes transfer it, gotta get rid of it.

They are water plants so watering is not much of a chore. yes, that is Dad's old 1981 CB 750. He gave it to me and I bobbed all the rusty stuff off of it. Reworked the carbs, baffles in pipes for back pressure. runs nice. no big bore kits, kahunas have shrunk in older age. So has reflexes, glad you got rid of the rocket before it got rid of you !! Guys our age always telling me stories about their Honda 750. Amazing how many of us had those. They did take the world by storm when they first came out. No kick start-say what ??

MrP-out there spraying roundup before the rain comes tomorrow. A 1960 model 2-stroke Echo w/float carb. My neighbor gave it to me. The main jet has to be cleaned about every hour of operation LOL. Sprays like a jiffy but the carb has to be babied. I think it is that dang corn fuel. Old machine built like a tank. Sweet little horizontal shaft 2 stroke, runs like a ninja. The 5 gallon tank dry rotted so I mounted it on a 2 X 10 and connected it to a 15 gallon tank that all sits on the back of an ATV. Replaced the fuel tank, hose stolen off a pressure washer, using pressure washer nozzles. It would take three 8 hour days to spray my stuff with a back pack, 2-3 hours w/this rig. Equipment helps, got my eye on your little skid loader

It has caused many problems in older engines and related equipment. I could never give up my Bobcat loader, even have a little backhoe attachment for it...............................................MrP

Bobcats are the best, popular down here and very reliable MrP. I figured you have a strong bond w/that one. Backhoe makes it really hot item.

jamesp, you must live in the muggy south somewhere! I remember one evening I was in Alabama, who knows where, in the middle of a marsh and the frogs were SO LOUD that it actually hurt my ears a little. I even took a video of it but it's on a different computer somewhere. Absolutely unique and eerie atmosphere though, very memorable.

And people may laugh, but the frogs can be uncomfortably loud. I live way back in the woods and visitors pretty much freak out at the sound. When a storm is blowing in they get cranked up too.

Thanks, jamesp! Speaking of bass, I remember that Mrs. Denise has a pet bass?? That pet bass had babies last year and has become unsociable. Her name is Doris. And she would eat about anything I thru out to her.
