It is feast/famine here Jean. It will normally get very dry during the summer. Not so bad in the desert, but a lot of trees and bush die off.
recent years worse in the drought dept.

Yes, gingerkid falling down on the job. Rain thru Monday.

The fishes are glad you failed the 'no rain' dance gingerkid. They are happy there are no turds drifting by @wampidy.
With all the rain, maybe they are dancing to CCR rockpickerforever.
And am certain they do not want to compete with the critters of the Mekong Delta fossilman and jakesrocks.
Putah creek looks inviting for the minnows stephan. Especially if CCR is in the air.

Was looking up a minnow that buries in the sand in this creek and found a list of common names of just the sucker family

Ah, finally, found that sucker-I mean darter. Buries his body and waits for prey to swim by. Silt and mud cramps his style.
He needs granular sand bottom with clear water. Hundreds of them under me when snorkeling for coral in shoals of sandy bottom rivers.
Burrowing in the sand just downstream as food is unearthed from my prospecting.
If you drift a few feet down they unbury and rebury right in front of you just downstream awaiting more dredgings.
Lightning fast and unconcerned about being caught.

My first guess w/out looking-Walleyed Pike ?? We have them near the dams of large impoundments where the water is over 100 feet deep and cool.
My neighbor was from Minnesota and threw rocks at all other fish; he was addicted to walleyes.

Ah, I was wrong, yellow perch. We have those too, but they stay small here. Up north they get plenty big for table fare.
