Ive got a really old Fuji Finepix F402, Ive got a newer camera now for more artyfarty stuff, but the Finepix has always taken great pics. I think with most cameras, especially digital cameras sunlight is a must. The f402 is 4.2 megapixels, it also has a Macro setting. I am sure that later models of this camera would be even better. no probs in about 4 years with it. Here is a shot from it - closeup with macro (it would - if available still - only cost about 100$ now probably - if that.) This pic is halved in physical size - saved with no jpeg compression. Mark

I have a Kodak easyshare Z710, 7 megapixals, 10x zoom. nice camera, BUT its too big to fit in a normal size shirt pocket. Sooooo you have to use the neck strap to carry it around. Also haxe a Kodak DX6440. Both take great pics, but the DX6440 is the smaller camera (shirt pocket size) but only 4 megs & 4x zoom..........Bob

I have a minolta z3. Unfortunately, they do not make digital cameras anymore. It is easy to use 4megapixels and 12x zoom. Great macro settings. Fortunately you can probably get it cheap on ebay

I have a Minolta Dimage Z1 digital camera that I use for regular picture taking. I take that pretty much where ever I go. When I go to places like Yellowstone, or other places where there is breathtaking scenery I use a Nikon D50 with various lenses.

I have several but my favorite is a Fuji S-2 Pro digital SLR. I use it for landscape, product and portraits. I try not to change lenses since that is how you get dust on the ccd. I keep a 24-80mm that is good to a few incehes and it packs a massive 2 meg file. Not the ideal camera for everyone, but it works for me!!

I decided to stick with Canon since I knew its layout and functions already and the one I had was a pretty good camera. I booked marked a bunch on e-bay and bought a Power shot A570 IS. The research shows it to take better pictures than my previous camera due to the image stabilizer and 7.1 mega pixels is twice what we had. Paid $167.50 no great bargain but the cheapest I found in a review was $169.00 and the price around here is $199.00. Thanks for all your help. john

Great camera John. I almost went with the A570 myself. Quicker processer in it as well I believe for quicker shots.

Just read an article on the Fuji S700.It has two macro modes one of which will Just read an article on the Fuji s700 which has three good things for macro.I.two macro modes.one of which is "super"and will focus as close as .4 inch 2. two L.C.D. screens;one shows exact capture 3.image stabilization. Fuji is noted for having good lenses, but ask for a test drive if you can. Note:the on-camera flash is usually not good for macro as the subject is too close.Diffuse sunlight is best or a soft-box setup which is fairly cheap at the photo. store.Mike.

Ok Ok, now I'm ready to abandon my 1.3 Mp for something better.
Did some lengthy web surfing and the Canon A570IS strikes my fancy. Did a CNET price comparison and can get the minimum setup for $168 after shipping. They offer a package deal that gives me a soft bag and 1gig card for $40 more but I can get those off ebay for less than that. Will likely pick up a wide angle macro off Ebay later as well.
What I did not seem to determine, does the A570 come with an AC adapter so that you can run it on AC, say for macro shots or while downloading pics onto the PC?

Canon PowerShot S2. Awesome camera -- I got it as a Christmas present from a former gentlemanfriend. Very highly rated in Consumer Reports. The camera that is, not the g.m.f... Any problem pics are usually on account of the operator, not the machine (in my case, anyway... )
