No so sure that attenuating the power going to a tumbler motor is a good idea.
Overfilling with plastic pellets will have the same effect.

somebody already said it there hitting too hard in the polish stage either you have a few much harder rocks in there or the barrel is not full enough prob both -- i haven't tumbled for a long time but i used the plastic pellets that where a hassle to pick out then used the ceramic logs (i called them) and they worked great a lot easier to separate and did the job well -- if you are trying to polish in the lortone 6lb barrels you must fill the barrels at least 3/4 full with rock and filler because they have a long way to fall in those bigger barrels so you need them to cushion themselves or the filler will do the job - if you hear them hitting hard when they fall you need to add more of either rock or filler -- if you have to do a couple runs and stop when you get to the polish stage then after 2 or 3 runs combine them to make an almost full barrel and use some filler just in case -- one rock harder then the rest can and will kill a whole tumble keep them as close as possible in hardness-- that's all i can say haha now its trial and error time we all went through it but with all the reply's you got you are a head of the game -- good luck don't forget to post pics of the great shine you get
