beckybee think of slurry & media like recipes for staple foods...all mostly the same, but everyone puts their own little touches to them....you'll see what I mean as you experience everyone a bit more...slurry thickeners can be clay or cornflour or kitty litter or anything that gives the liquid more body really & media can be a handful of gravel or or or or. I found this tut that shows an alternative to denim pieces that maaaaaybe could work? I don't know yet desiredcreations.com/howTo_TLTumbleBuff.htmAs I in does tries! thanks for clearing up about the polish I hadn't heard of Chromium Oxide, but will avoid it now. I'm going to check the postage prices from the Rock Shed as they seem to be MUCH more economical than our sellers. I always get names wrong, but yes I meant that one & intended to compliment your wisdom, as in I trust your judgement because you make the effort to get your facts right. My apologies if I expressed myself badly in that Is this any good? I know it's small, but any bigger wouldn't fit in my workspace www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Multi-Bench-Grinder-for-grinding-and-polisihing-jewellery-tool-/161805161544?hash=item25ac56d448

Good for what? What are you wanting to do? Not good for polishing rocks.

Sorry, but you need water to grind and shape stones. The smallest unit I can think of that might do the job would be a Pixie.
(I'll let you research them)
You could also get a 2 wheel arbor if one wheel was an expanding drum where you could change the belts for different grits, but that's probably biting off more than you care to deal with.

You mean like this or a swap top? I've seen a Pixie, but I don't think we can get them here + they're kinda pricey for my budget sniffles I wish I had the space for a trim saw like that one on eBay, but I really don't. A very small bench grinder is about as big as I can go unfortunately
