Tommy - resurrecting this to see what you think of that sintered wheel. Should be still grinding along. OMG, it's a workhorse and I love it. I rarely even have to dress it and it just keeps grinding and grinding and barely shows any wear. Just doing a rough calculation based on Etsy sales since this thread I believe I have cut over 1200 cabochons on it and still has a LOT of life left. Sweet!!! So, you got the Inland 60? What is your second wheel? I want to replace my galaxy 80 but not my 220. Will that work?

It's funny but when you asked the question I had NO idea what I'm running as the second wheel - I've had it on so long. Of course the model info had to be on the inside gap and covered with dirt so I had to get the tools out and take it off and wash it to find out what it is. It's a 220 crystalring coated wheel that my brother gave me when I first started. It's another wheel that just keeps going and going. I keep becoming convinced that it is on it's last leg but it still does a fine job finishing out the dome and smoothing out the rough grind marks.

Thank you, Tommy. I didn't mean for you to go through so much trouble. Thank you. Guess I know what my next big purchase will be.

What put me over the top was after posting that I suddenly realized that I've been considering replacing the crystalring soon with a Galaxy 220 - at a cost of around $140 I think. Why not just buy another one of the wheel I know I like for less money?? haha

Tommy, Well Actually I was also looking into Sintered wheels for my 8"Cab King and I ran Across Your Thread and read, read. and read some more and one of the reads was your post. I also used it for reference and Posted the link in my post I looked at the price of that BAD BOY AND Damn I would have to come out of retirement and get a couple Jobs to pay for it. I Got (3) Sintered Wheels for mine a 60 a 100 Hoping to be switched to a 180 and a 220 I got the Hans for 280.00 Their shipping is KILLER but is like overnight and you get it in 3 days. Hopefully I will like it as much as you like yours! Should last awhile as it has 5mm thick of Diamonds on it so I hope it performs well. Bringing that thread back up musta rang a bell in Tela's memory as she was involved in both thread conversations and I am glad she asked you cause now I know they work good!

I get a little dip here or there because I'm not great at using the whole width of the wheel all of the time. I level it off by using the extreme edges during the initial roughing out stage. Glad you're loving it. Well worth the initial investment to anyone who cabs alot. Lynn

I have been keeping the Han wheel in my Amazon cart for about 6 months now. the price has been dropping and the 60 grit 6" is now listed at $229 free shipping. I just got a new 80 & 220 Galaxy wheels today but I was thinking of getting one of these. I am going to get back into cabbing and I will were out what I have rather quickly. Is this wheel worth it at all or do I need to go with the Inland?

Due to the steel hubs they are very heavy though. But I have mine mounted in the arbor section between the pillow block bearings on an old Highland Park machine so the extra weight of the steel hubs isn't as much of an issue as it might be on an arbor-thru-motor type machine. If buying to use on an arbor-thru-motor machine I think I would have sprung for the Inland's sintered with the aluminum hubs. Larry C.

Hello, new here. Great thread, and yes I am late to the party, but bump again. The Inland wheels are super expensive now. Any alternate recommendations out there?

jmac The thread mentions 3 brands. There's lots of good suggestions here. Read the entire thread. I bought from Lapidary Tools (Hans). There are links above. Lynn

roger that, zarguy. i have been looking at these brands in depth, and was wondering if there are any new "players" out there in the sintered market. i have checked all the brands out (neosint, inland, hans). the inland is a beautiful wheel, and one that would serve me well i'm sure, but DANG! the price! my eyes about bugged out of my bald head!!! hokey toots!

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but I bought an 80 grit regular wheel from the Lithuanian guys and this thing is grinding like a champ with no signs of slowing down. I am looking at them when I need to replace it. I hear you can ask about their sintered wheels. I think it was TheRock who mentioned this. What was their name? Baltic Abrasives? I am more than impressed with their hard wheels. Their soft wheels blow in my opinion.
