If you are a professional carpenter or just really good at it you might want to look away now. In my travel trailer I had a need to open up the dining area as well as provide myself with a place to do my wire wrapping and jewelry. I got tired of the dining table that came with the trailer so I decided to change things. At first I was just looking for some kind of table or work desk that I could just put in there but even after long searches online I couldn't come up with anything that would fit where I needed it to go. In a moment of insanity I decided I would make my own desk. I wanted it to be able to be folded up so if I needed the dining table again I could just fold the desk up and out of the way. It took a bit of thinking (yep, my brain hurts...lol) but I came up with a workable desk. I used wood that was laying around my mom's garage and bought the hinges online. I'll be testing it out in Quartzsite soon. I will confess I am not a carpenter nor am I into perfection so it looks a little rough but it will do the job so I'm happy. The bottom with legs folded. Yes, I know it only has three legs but that was the only way I could figure out to get it to fold up without the legs getting in the way of each other. I thought it was rather ingenious of me (pats self on back). \ legs unfolded - please ignore the duct tape on the bottom that is holding the contact paper in place since it was being a bear and didn't want to stick on the underside of the desk. Set up. Top is covered with contact paper in a neutral tone. How it looks set up in my trailer. I am proud of the new desk and am hoping it will work out for me. Thanks for looking.

Great idea on using the three leg approach. It's called the Milk Stool principal.
Your table will always sit firmly on the floor and not rock !

That's terrific! Table and contact paper. I have never ever gotten contact paper on anything smoothly. Hat's off to you!

Woot! Woot! Great idea! That will do the job alright! Small spaces need a lot of do it yourself. I'm really happy for you. Now you will have a better space to create.

did you use a chain saw to cut the legs to length? Ha ha
are the hinges spring loaded lock in place?
I use a collapsible stool at the Pixie
wrap on!

Good job. Don't forget to seal the exposed wood.

WTG, Diane! You can do anything you set your mind on. The new table should come in very handy.

Thank you all. I didn't seal the wood yet James because of lack of time plus I want to use it first to make sure I don't have to make any modifications. No Ed, used my dad's old table saw instead of my chainsaw, easier to make a straight cut that way. Yes the hinges are spring loaded and lock in place when open or closed.

As already stated, three points define a plane. Therefor your table will always have solid feet.
