Sniffing around youtube, I found this style. Nothing new, just adapted it for myself. [/url] Copper with Rainbow Calsilica hanging bead Sterling and Fine Silver with 3ct untreated faceted topaz (my birthstone, so I splurged). I buffed out the tool marks after this pic was taken.

do you ever patina your wraps? These would look really nice with a LOS patina, then steel-wool polished.

These are incredibly easy. Once I got it down, it now takes just an hour to make one. Most of the time is spent getting the bail area correct. Here's the link: I modified it into what you see above because I wanted to have that topaz hanging freely. I did consider patina, but not with these two. I'll make another in copper and try it first. I'm using 28ga for the wrap and afraid that polishing it will move or bend them, even though they're pretty tightly wound (like their creator ). The sterling/FS one I don't wanna mess up. At least the price of silver/FS wire has dropped. And Dave, yes please do post the futuristic pics!

I see Dave's gonna follow me around the boards cos of a remark I made. But I was serious! That piece was amazing and there's no way I can figure out how you did it. It was a compliment!

Holy cats! That is some piece. It's beautiful. I see there's a lot of room for error as the wraps cover some sins. Not yours, of course. Is that green tourmaline?

I was only joking on my comment about my ring.im glad you love it.it was quite simple.the soldering part and settings are easy, the wrap stuff, not a clue,I've never watched him do that part.but I do know it takes about a couple days to a week to complete

I'll admit I am not into beads but I like the concept of a free hanging stone in the center of the wrap. I have grooved stones as small as 15mm diameter and think they would probably hang nicely in a frame like that example Chuck

@arrowheadave I think that is the first time that I've seen a heady wrap frame soldered. Cool, very cool.

Chuck, nearly anything would work. You just need to make your frame the right size for it. Just remember the bail on the stone needs to attach, and it can mean a really large pendant. I hope that makes sense. That's why I kept to smallish stones. The Calsilica is 8mm. The topaz not much more. So you gotta figure that gorgeous stone would need a pendant at least twice as big as the ones I've made. And if you use sterling that can add up $$ wise. If you make something, please post! Would love to see it. Same for everyone else who showed interest. My pics are large enough to show what to do. The two frame pieces are 7" each 20ga dead soft. I used around 5' of 28ga fine silver (or copper) for the wraps.

Or, do you mean the total length before forming was 7 inch?

The frame was made with 2 pieces of 7" wire. This is for a small-medium sized stone. You do the wrap around both wires, then gently curve the wrapped wires till they meet up, then start the bail. The finished projects are both around 2" in size.

OK, that makes more sense to me. Thanks.
