I like the sphere and sandpaper trick. The top of my personal walking stick. Hollowed out rock on top glued down. The stick is quite tall so I needed to keep the weight down. Edited to add the flaming heart stone that is the eye. The top of a stick I made when I was in China. A finger to point the way and an eye to see where I am going. Unknown wood. I have started on a new one but I am probably a year or two from finishing it. Did some chisel work yesterday, inside, really windy outside, huge mess to clean up but sometimes you just have to do what the flowing juices tell you to do. All I have is boring before photos so far. It is diamond willow with a large knot of roots at the top so I am going to make it hollow on top where the fingers will go inside on one side and the thumb will go inside on the other side. Lots of room to release it and not loose a finger plus large enough you could take someone's head off with it in an emergency. Jim

BTW to be sure the sphere remained attached I used a Dowel or Hanger screw to hold them together. I use those a lot!!!!!!!

Ain't that antique harness rigging great Mike ? I have a belt buckle made from an old hand forged harness swivel. Gonna have to start checking out farm auctions around here again.

Hey Mike, here's that harness swivel belt buckle. Bought the belt from a hippy couple in Spain back in 1970.
