Moved things around a little to see what works best. This was not best.
Getting racks put together.
Racks finished
Finally at 1 am we were done with the initial set up. Today we are going to screw it all together and put the trim pieces on. The gap between the cabinets on the back wall will be closed up with a toe kick piece. Then I get to move in all my stuff. Happy happy day!!
This guy supervised us most of the night. I don't know if he was paying attention to the noise of the racks being put together or me sticking a camera in his face.

At long last... Wow, nice! I am green with envy. SO happy for you, Andrea. Wish I had just one location for all my toys, instead of in various sheds and spread out all over the patio, lol.
And speaking of green, those little critters give me the chills. I think it's those alien eyes.
Thanks rockpickerforever The reason my husband decided to add in my room to the new garage was because I have taken over the laundry room, pantry, kitchen and garage with my rock stuff. At the old house it was all over the back porch as well as in the house.
The preying mantis wanted to be with us. I tried several to get him outside but he kept flying in. I'd much rather have him than a scorpion in the room.
captbob we are going to move the saw in today sometime. It will go by the door along with the tile saw. We are going to put some stiff plastic sheets on the walls to water proof them. I thought it would be best there so I could put the fan in front of the door to get the mist from the saws out of the room.
Your work room is Sweet, look at all those racks and the continuous work bench.Very nice indeed!! What did you use for the roof? It seems to be tile?? What are the dimensions of your workspace? I've really enjoyed this thread!

Sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong I'm sure - but from my experiences I've developed the opinion that oil cutting saws belong outside if at all possible. I finally moved my last oil saw outside after I noticed that every time I ran my 10" Lortone saw with oil in the garage while working in the vicinity - using great ventilation, fan blowing and front and back doors open - I would develop a cough. If I stopped using it for a few weeks the cough would clear up - then come right back as soon as I started again. I did this several times until I proved to myself that it wasn't my imagination. This was with food grade lite mineral oil for lubricant. Plus the fact that the oil mist just gets EVERYWHERE - there's no stopping it from coating and building up on everything which then causes dirt to stick. The only cutting that is allowed in my work area now is my water based tile saw for trimming slabs.
Aside from that I'm thrilled for you - what an awesome workshop for both of you
Thanks for the info Tommy I am concerned about the oil mist. Some have said that they use a towel over the saw to help with the mist. Someone else said not opening it right away after it stops helps too. I'm going to give it a try. I will use a mask if I'm in the room while it's running and will cover the other equipment to protect them. I wish it was portable so I could move in and out of the room as needed but it is way too heavy for that.
We got the saws into the the room today. We secured the cabinets and countertops and bolted the shelves together so they are extremely solid. Tomorrow I'm going to start moving everything else in. It's going to be fun going through everything and setting things up. Here are a few pics.

Thanks Erich. The tiles on the roof are flat concrete tiles. The room is 10'x25'. The long counter is 18' and the short one is 6'. The shelves are six 3 ft units giving me 18' and I think they are 18" wide.
Hmmm, some thoughts of running the saw inside the shop...
When running the central a/c unit wouldn't the mist get sucked into the return even with auxiliary fans running? I guess you'd simply cut the a/c off if cutting inside....?
Will the rock room and the auto shop have two different a/c systems? Seems if it's a shared system then cutting inside cut send an oily mist into the shop...might help keep your husband's cars from rusting.
Never having ran a saw (oil or otherwise) I can't really say any of that will be an issue, but...thought I'd pass on some thoughts of mine.
I *know* ya'll are about to bust with excitement!!!! You know that you're going to have to do a slow panning video of the counter-top and shelving when you get everything set up so we can tell you how it *ought* to be set up.<GRIN>
