Spring has brought a burst of color, but also storms and high wind, so I thought it best to get a few photos around the yard before the bloom is off the rose, literally. Maybe those further north will appreciate knowing that the good weather is here and it's headed their way!

The Bradford and Cleveland pears were the first to bloom and the wind is going to get them tonight.

Hi there, hope you dont mind me adding pics to your fantastic post (if not appropriate, please just delete)  Different continent, same scenario. We had the longest, coldest (for us) and dimmest (least sunny days) winter on record. Now slowly things come back to what we are used to. Cotton tree flower  National flower: Bauhinia  Cought those two fellows enjoying themselves in the sunlight (last Sunday)  Kingfisher is just a bit out of range for clear picture (about 120 yards away)  As said, things finally come alive here and blooms are everywhere  Does not mean air-quality is better too.   Last but not least; does anyone recognize this plant?  Krista (my daughter) took seeds from what we presumed where dandelions in Austria last year. We germinated some in November and planted. Grew one flowering stalk and started an avalanche of plants sprouting downhill here in the village. Leaves seem to be similar, but the flower is absolutely not. So no clue what we started here. |

kk, nice photos! I hoped others would share. Don't recognize the yellow flower, but the leaves do look like dandelion.

Okay, you asked for it! Some of these photos were taken several months ago. It was springtime here, lol. Today it is summer, supposed to get to 90 degrees.
Double daffodils, photo taken at Winnie's in Ramona a couple weekends ago.
Single bi-color daffodil
Purple statice with Papilio eurymedon, the pale swallowtail or pallid swallowtail
Bearded iris
The rest are in my yard.
Aloe
Strawberry
Kalanchoe
Thunbergia
Freesia. Too bad you can't enjoy the wonderful fragrance by looking at a photo!

Epidendrum. AKA reed orchid
Parasol (or umbrella?) aloe, bought in Quartzsite about ten years ago.
Passion flower. These also smell wonderful!

rockpickerforever, I have to know what the prehistoric plant/tree is behind the umbrella aloe? It's very angry looking. Thanks for sharing your photos, I like seeing some I know and some you can't have around here.

Spring is in full force over here, wet wet wet. Last years pictures are from sealevel, this time round I'm more likely to have pictures of blooms at the higher region around here (1800 to 2400 feet) A few favorites, from Easter weekend:  A changeling, open and close with the sun  Effective way to harvest water for a lot of plants up at those regions   And my favorite, simply because I had never seen it before  |

Mixed Louisiana Iris in 8 inches of water. Where Buckwheat Zydeco ?   White Louisiana Iris  Catalog to a Louisiana Iris grower.
