Both are superb but I am thinking the arrowhead would be tougher to do with a rotary tool because of the long flat areas. Jim Not really, as the size pretty much conforms to my 2 inch blade. started a new snake, after a rather huge response to the first one, including from a friend who asked for something last year, but never came up with a design she wanted. Now I slowly fell in love with the second one too, and dont want to give either of them away. So, looks like, I gotta make a third, and then let her choose from this one or the third. First one is simple, but I like it better despite of improved design in the second.

The coral works extremely well for snake skin. Almost looks real. Jim

That is a very realistic looking snake. The coral is perfect. Also like the arrowhead.

OK, so number 3 is underway. This time there are a few soft spots to work around, and/or to include in overall design. This time also, back and front lines up. First two Back and front of number 3 Solo Sanding stage 400grit paper And started another Brazilian for "Fire & Ice" Challenge on FB As usual, stuck on the face, yet again. Thanks for looking, Kurt

Very nice, Kurt. As much as I liked the white coral, the darker coral looks even better, more like a snake.
I like your beach scene, too. Good luck with the competition. Don't worry about the face, it will come to you.

Don't worry about the face, it will come to you. Nothing to worry about the Challenge. Its intended to create a situation where one challenges oneself rather than the others. To me, the albino-effect of the first is more attractive. Its one-sided instead of two-sided, like the other two, and is much simpler, yet holds much more attraction on me. The first is definitely mine. One of the other two, I'm ready to give up, and will see if I can get one more albino-baby out of the remains of the slab, once I know how much of it is needed for the Snow Leopard. Keep at it Kurt. Soon you will have a mating ball. Got a fantastic video of those things in on of the episodes of "Wild Canada"

Amazing work. Any one of those would look great on the necklaces I make.

They all look stunning! I find myself looking at the curves and angles figuring out how I would go about setting one in Sterling

Chalk up another one for Kurt. The material and artistry are a real winner. Jim

They all look stunning! I find myself looking at the curves and angles figuring out how I would go about setting one in Sterling Quite easy actually. All of them facilitate cord through the tail end. The first has a flat back as the material is not that thick. With a cord it lays flat on your skin, but hangs awkward freely. The other two have holes from front to behind the tail, allowing a jump-ring to hang straight. Is working coral easy ? Those are fantabulous. Bet that stuff is hard as in Mohs hard. You will now be possessive of them. Keep them for Kurt. Cutting is hard on my equipment. Used up 5 2 inch blades and broke two cables (inside flexshaft). Once grinding started, no problem. Works just like any other agate. Yes wearing the first one since over a week, even before it got polished yesterday. The other two, and possibly one more are spoken for as gifts.

Chalk up another one for Kurt. The material and artistry are a real winner. Jim Thank you all for the fantastic feedback. Its great to see the interest in things one makes. For those of you that have the right tools (foredome or something like that), snake patterns are something quite easy to do as the overall layout does not need to conform to something very precise. Try it. I have tried a few times over the years, and while far from perfect, each and every time, things get a little better. The first one in the set here anyhow; I consider it nothing more than a cab with a little extra. Just keep trying, and don't listen to others telling you what you can't do.

Kurt, You are being quite modest in downplaying your achievement with snakes. Many people fail miserably in capturing the proper contours of a snakes form. It was brilliant to use the patterns of the stone to mimic the scales of the snake. I love what you have done. Tom
