Beautiful variety and amazing shine! Are you sure this is one tumble and not a "best of" from the past 5 years or so? ;-)

Hmm, why do you call it "kitchen sink tumbles"?

I could work up a thread Jugglerguy @shotgunner. Let me get some thoughts together on the subject. After past work doing portraits, weddings, sporting events and such, it's a luxury to work with a subject that does exactly what I say and doesn't move until I say so. Gives lots of time for experimentation. And unlimited film!

I wanna know what the firey sky ones are in #6 This is the only picture I could find of that rock before I cut it. I'm much better now about cataloguing what I get, but in this case, this is the best I've got. In case you can't tell from the grainy photo, it was a red and orange-ish colored rock, jasper I reckon, weathered smooth. I did no testing on it, but it cut easily.

I've looked around on the web, but haven't seen anything just like it yet.
I really like the tumble in photos 10 and 11, but don't know what it was either.

Killer materials tumbled to perfection. I enjoyed the show, thanks! Forgive my bad memory but are you all rotary or rotary then vibe? loto? Chuck Thanks Chuck. I stole your playbook. Well, you and Jugglerguy. Both were generous enough to share your processes, which are very similar, when I got started. I promptly went out and got the Lot O, followed your 'instructions' and got good results. Now, I tumble like I cook. Nothing really measured or weighed, just use the recipe as a guideline and eyeball it based on best judgment. But the steps are the same. I've got to add one more that I stole technique from. jamesp convinced me that kitty litter added to the course grind helped form a good slurry. That and the 3-5 day changeouts I took. Both are a deviation from what Chuck and Rob do, but it has been working for me.

Garage Rocker, are you doing a full cleanout of your rough barrel every 3-5 days or just adding new grit?

Garage Rocker, are you doing a full cleanout of your rough barrel every 3-5 days or just adding new grit? I do a full clean out of my QT12 every 3-5 days. The 33b gets cleaned out at 7-10 days, or more. It has a less aggressive tumbling action and I usually have lots of media in there with something more delicate.

Thanks for the info. I think the crazy lace is the one I'm most excited about. The ones with all the little circles. Those look so cool.

Randy, those are fantastic! I am seeing a trend......
Love the Blackskins and Moss Agates! #11 - isn't it a Laker? It looks like a few that you sent me.
Maybe you could just re-post the photography info you sent me. That is very informative and will be relevant for future inquiries.
