My son has been after me to make him a keychain, pendant or something he can attach to his backpack. In other words, do something useful with those rocks. Wire wrapping seemed to be the logical next step. A few tools, a little wire and here we go. I did the crazy lace back in July before I had decent wire and it's a good thing, I mangled the hell out of it. The other two I did today.
Very rudimentary, especially those bails , but functional for an eight year old's keychain. Props to everyone that does this and makes it look easy (and beautiful), because...uh...it isn't. I'm sure it gets easier with practice, but I can see the value in having a teacher or some kind of instruction. I'm sure I'm breaking every rule and making it harder than it should be. We'll get it figured out though.
Ok, just finished one more.
Just need to tighten some of the wires up a bit. Lots of practice needed.

Hey! Breaking rules is a good thing!!!! As long as it holds the stone and it can hang, then it's all good. Kudos on a job well done!

A1 effort garage. Won't be long and you will be twisting with Tela.

that cross wire on the arrowhead shape rocks the garage ! That's the one my 8 year old son chose to hang on a leather necklace and wear to school today.

Her work amazes me, very creative. Those wires don't like to listen, at least to me.

A long while would never arrive, my fingertips do not what they asked to do on that level. Cheerleader seat as far as it goes. Watched a lot of "wrapper start ups" on this forum, you should be nipping at their heals soon.

Excellent first pieces. Every time I think about trying, I remember my bad eye sight and fat fingers.

Looks like you have an good sense of color and design. Also seems like you are improving with each piece. When I tried it I just ended up with hopelessly twisted wire and a scratched rock!

Thanks, dottyt, it's a start. It took me a month to give it a second try, I was so frustrated by the first attempt. It definitely got easier, if not better, the more I did it.

Nice job Randy! It's a good start. My first several wraps looked *horrible* ... then never really got much better haha. I learned a lot from Tela in the early going - mostly I learned I will NEVER be in her league. I think she's actually an alien or something - she can do things that most of us mere mortals can't.

Yeah, I don't imagine to ever create pieces like that. Just better than what I'm doing now. Here's the one I did tonight. Tried something different.

Very pretty, very "out of the box" - I like that these are truly unique and show off your talent at seeing the possibilities of utilitarian and beauty.
