From Roy. Sticker fell off. Roy knows, want to see if some one can give it a go. It is by far the hardest toughest material I ever messed with. Harder than bloodstone and coral and Montana

Wow, tough one as a lot of areas have similar stuff. Two Mexican materials can have specimens that look a bit like that, Boquillas and Vaquilla Agate . Also similar stuff in the Cadys and in The Rio grande gravel but booth the aforementioned agate types from the Texas Mexico border area wind up in the Rio gravel too...Mel

Darn thing is freaky hard. Gave up pre-grinding it for tumbling. That is a first. Cut it to odd tetra/penta mixed shape on the 18 inch saw and tossing it in the tumbler.

Reminds me of some of the Arizona Pet wood I have. Colors and patterns are similar.

Reminds me of some of the Arizona Pet wood I have. Colors and patterns are similar. Thanks fernwood. Is it really hard material ? No, and usually heavily fractured. To make regular size tumbles, just put a piece that size in the barrel. Is a week or two the fractures will naturally break down into tumbles. Would have crumbled in your hands when grinding... I saw a piece on eBay with similar colour. (Haha British keyboard) it had a name I cannot remember and cannot find. Similar layers of colors

Something radiates from good solid rock. Not to be holistic, but it is desirable to have solid rock. This rock seems to have more than average density. Probably unlikely for quartz gem, wicked hard/tough.

What I have is fractured throughout. Pretty hard, as I cannot break it apart.
