I really like both of those. Have you done sterling with a patina before? I don't remember you doing that.

That chipboard looks amazing. This is the next thing I'm working on. Got some preforms and my grinding bit is on its way here. Just need to order some wire!

Do you still recommend 22ga square dead soft and 21ga half round half hard as a good place to start?

Do you still recommend 22ga square dead soft and 21ga half round half hard as a good place to start? Hey I think you found a typo in my work. The main wire in the groove is 20 gauge square. The temp wire at the bail is 22 gauge half round. The actual bail wrap wire is 20 gauge round. Look at the photo in the tutor that shows all the supplies on the table and they are called out there. You are correct. I was typing the wire sizes I had written down from the wire wrapping tutorial. The ones you listed are what I have written down for groove wrapping. Do you use the dead soft or half hard wire? Thanks!

Beautiful stuff. Do you find people prefer buying the groove-wrapped opposed to traditional wire wrapped stones?

Beautiful stuff. Do you find people prefer buying the groove-wrapped opposed to traditional wire wrapped stones? Tough call. The groove wraps are cheaper so it is hard to tell if people like them better or just like the price better. Chuck

And there was I dissing chipboard on another thread! Luckily this doesn't look anything like chipboard. Whoever named that did it a disservice. That's a lovely cab, though I think that (generally) the stones are at risk with the groove wraps. But then I know how long smithing takes so I can see it from both sides. I would have named it "toffee-ripple rhyolite"

Looks kinda like cafe forest rhyolite, too. This is treated to make the brown lines pop up. The surface is irregular. I bought some and liked it.

I know the maker of those. He used to supply the gift shop that I supply now. The shakers don't excite me but he does make some awesome stuff. I bought some of his stuff years ago before I ever even thought about this stuff myself. I thought it was interesting that the ebay seller is in California. Probably an estate sale find. Chuck
