Hi everyone, It's been so long. Created a new acct since I forgot my password. I'm hoping some still remember me as sitnwrap.
I still check the board from time to time even though my rock passion has deminishwd a bit. Hard to believe but, Yup, that sometimes happens.
In any case, I would like to offer up some of the beautiful cabojohns that dear Sands sent to me out of friendship. I rarely wrap now and it has been bothering me that his cabs are just sitting. It doesn't feel right.
So I would like to send out one cab per member with the agreement that the cab will be wrapped, silversmithed, used to create something beautiful or if a friend of Sands but dont wrap (etc) you can hold as a keepsake.
Taking 3 responses now (pm your addy)and will send more once I mail out the first 3.
Sands, where ever you are, I bet the Escarole soup is amazing!

What a fantastic offer! And welcome back.
There are some top tier wire wrappers here on the forum. I would suggest that you somehow limit your offer to these long time member, wire wrapping experts. The best of the best. Some newbie that didn't know the Sandman and that makes wraps looking like a dog chewed on them getting a Sands cab just ain't right.

I agree with Bob. Even though it would exclude me, I would not waste the time fooling with it because I know that I could not do them justice. They need to go to Sandman's friends, then they should go to only the best wrappers.
I think all would agree that it is nothing personal against the newbies and the inexperienced folks.

Guys, thank you for your thoughts on this. My hope is that the members who knew Sands will respond. I just did not know how to say it. I obviously knew Sands through the board, but got to know him a little more when talking about food and escarole soup. Being the nut hat I was, I went out and bought a head, bagged it, scooped some clean snow and bagged it then boxed and mailed it.
It was 4pm and had to get it mailed that day so he could have it by the Holliday's. Had to share as the memory makes me laugh.
Would someone be willing to post a pic of what I have. I would have to text them the pic. I haven't used my photo bucket account in a while and its a pita.
So far I have one long-standing member who has taken the offer.

123sitnwrap, I'll take you up on a cab. I wrap & I silversmith. I've been wrapping since 2010, but like smithing better, so I don't know what I'll do until I see the cab. Lynn

A very generous offer, Lori. Though I never actually physically met Sands, I knew him through the board. His cabojohns were awesome! I agree with Mark K, they should go first to sandman's friends, then to the best wrappers that can do the most with his cabs. While I certainly consider myself a friend, I am no top notch wrapper, lol. I hope they ended up going to the right persons, who will do them justice! Jean

I love challenging and unusual cabs. I knew John on the board and we pm'ed a few times. I can't say we were friends, but I respected him, for sure. I have been wrapping since about 1999. If you want to consider me, send me a pm.

I truly believe that John viewed all the members he knew through the board as a friend. I also never met John in person but we sure enjoyed email conversations about food and stuff. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that.
Rockjunkie, could you pm your address.
I'm trying to get a pic up just to show what I have. You will notice there are four that Sands made very simple wire loops. I think it was his first attempt at wrapping. I think that those four need to be sent on to members who just have not yet reached full potential. It just takes time, dedication, passion and cabs.lol so Jean, send me your Addy. I know Sands is smiling right now.
I now have the first 3 so will hold off until I get them out. Otherwise I'm going get stuff mixed up.lol
Thanks for the kind PMS. Sands had such a big heart so that's what your really seeing.

I sure do!
Remember .............
To Lori Sitnwrap
As you know Lori made a bracelet, for auction, to benefit Crohns disease and ultimately Connrocks daughter, Judi. I was the lucky bidder and I received it today.
She did a great job taking pictures but it is much nicer in real life. I bought this for my young bride and she is very happy with it.
I think it was decided that the cab was made by steveholmes.Great job. The only problem is now I wish I had 10 lbs of that material. That is sure some great looking material.
I thank both of you for being so generous as to give to this cause and help me look good in my young brides eyes ;D......MrP

My wife loves wearing that one!!
And because of winning this one we ended up with
connrock
As you may know I bought the beautiful bracelet Lori made in support of Tom's daughter Judi. He PMed me and said he needed to do something to thank me. I said that it was not necessary but he wanted to do something. Well he gave me his number so I called and talked to him. He made it sound as if nobody would even 'take' something he made. What a bunch of BULL.
He sent some pic's and my Young Bride had a choice. She chose
When it showed up I had a pair of matching earrings ready to surprise her with.
Tom you didn't have to do that.
Sorry about the dust on that beautiful pendent.
Thank You......MrP

Mike you brought back some great memories with those pics. Steves' cab had to be part of something very special.
Connrock is an amazing artist. He puts a lot of thought into who he is creating for and applies it to how he designs the pendant and the stone he chooses.
O,don't know if you remember the goody box you sent me, but there was a petwood slab that I won't ever cut or give up. It has two dragons in it.

Thanks for letting me know you got them.
