Thanks Tommy. From what I've read, it only had one last return trip to make and that was supposed to be hand delivered. So, whether or not it made it, I guess it has concluded?

Do we know who has the box? If it still hasn't made it back to Sheri or Richardh I would volunteer to be the last receiver on the list and bring everything to Quartzsite in January or Ohio in July for a giveaway. Maybe the furthest traveled? Idk - just thinking out loud. I mailed the box back to Sheri in late May. As far as I know she was the last stop. If there is another round I would like to participate again. Andrea PS.....I guess I never took pics of what I took from the box. I have the stuff in a dish. I will post pics later.

Here is a pic of the stuff I took out of that traveling rock box. Tommy is the one that says “german” on it from you? If so, what is it? Both my parents are from Germany. All of my aunts, uncles, and cousins live there so when I saw that slab I had to have it. Andrea

I bought it and several other rocks at a little back alley junk shop in Landau, Germany. I kept records and receipts for customs - let me dig a while and see if I can come up with something.

Tommy is the one that says “german” on it from you? If so, what is it? Actually... now that I dug through the photos I actually got that piece at a jewelry shop in Idar-Oberstein. We were walking by window shopping on our way to the museum and the shop had a few rocks on display that caught my eye. The problem is I can't read the old man's writing - it's the top line item. For all I know it could say what he had for breakfast that day haha. The one you have was a was a couple inches thick before I cut that slab off. The second line item was a thick slab for $5 - I do remember that.

Thanks Tommy I’ll have to show my mom the pic and see if she can read it. It’s possible the first part say Achat which means agate but I can’t make out the rest. I always have a hard time reading the writing of my older German relatives. Andrea

Scheibe = disc/slice > slab That would make more sense. When I entered achat scheibe it didn’t translate it. Thanks

I have a boatload of pictures that I took inside of the two rock museums - there are similarities between your piece and some of those - maybe close enough to get within shouting distance of an ID. I'm in a big rush today but I'll try to post them soonish.

Luminin I'm going to un-sticky this thread now since it did reach a conclusion. When you have the new thread figured out and ready to go let me know and we will make it the new sticky.
