I have contributed to lots of websites and forums over the years. RTH towers above the rest! Pinterest? Post pictures - then what? FaceBook? Post something and a brief discussion - then what? Mindat? Better, but cramped. Here we can share SO MUCH in SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS! Tops in Topics, photo sharing (well you have to find a photo sharing site) on over 78,000's of threads, PM, Shoutbox, etc. and meet thousands of interesting people from all over the globe with NEW ideas and ways of doing things! As I said, RTH towers above the rest.

I can thank stoner for introducing me. Being an RTHling, I've learned a lot. It is my social media.

Being an RTHling, I've learned a lot. It is my social media. Me too, Pat. Gave Facebook a look, but it's useless drivel. This is my only online presence now and the only forum I've ever joined (with help from my wife).

I miss being on here. Such is life unfortunately. This is the best place on the web, hands down. Who'd have thought a forum for rock hounds would be such an awesome place and great way to learn, connect, share and just be overall encouraged and picked up?

I wouldn't have thought I'd get such a warm welcome as an offcumden on an international scale. However I did and my thanks.

I was a Bob's Rock Shop poster back in the day. But that is gone now (almost). There were others I've tried, but this place has such exceptionally smart and kind people. It is surprising to find this much interest in a hobby whose "heyday" was 40 years ago. Keep it up !! This IS the place to be !

I can thank stoner for introducing me. Being an RTHling, I've learned a lot. It is my social media. It is my main social media too Pat. It is not shallow and flighty. People get into detail and it is educational at that point. I would bet bored hitting the 'like' button all day. Brief and shallow comments get old(Facebook).

I'm here because this is where my friends are! It is not my "main" social media, it is pretty much my only social media! (Yeah, I know, get a life, lol.) I will not waste my time on Tracebook.
I "stumbled across" this site over five years ago, and became a member. I was looking for an ID on a rock, and never left.
A person cannot fail to learn something from the generous members here. The people on RTH are a special caliber, the best, THEY ROCK!
ETA - Have to say something about photos of all the pretty rocks... They are always droolworthy!

I was invited by a member more than a few years ago. (Seems like yesterday.) I don't do other social media, either. This is it. Aside from a blog. I love the camaraderie, the information, the rocks.... hell, I just love RTH! Feels like home or a close knit neighborhood. Even though there are no rocks where I live, I get to live vicariously through other people's postings.

When I started this rock hobby I was- am remain- enthused about RTH The hobby itself was one of the ultimate joys of my life I think I had as much enthusiasm for the hobby as possible, was proud of my craft and wish rock’n hearts would have caught on like fire. On RTH I tried to remain friendly, encouraging, and divulge what ever skills I had. More importantly RTH was always that and I learned and saw many wonders in my participation. Throughout the many productive seasons I tried to shy away from to much political bantering. Unfortunately the last couple years as been a bust for the rocks and my enthusiasm as diminished. More unfortunately- I started to become political on RTH. Its something I’m not proud of. I have to much respect for the hobby, and the board, to start allowing a high percentage of my posts to become that. Addictions are terrible thing. Staying away from the board is difficult. Getting a life is even harder than corundum Ultimately I was always one man rock show EdMohs O I’m not deleting my account or anything You can keep those cards, letters & boxes of rocks coming in m stly

mohs - You have always been one of the guiding lights on RTH! It is always a pleasure to read what you share. EVEN THE POLITICAL PARTS. It would be a sorry world if everyone always agreed.
