Well we just got home late last night after battling stormy weather and having to go waaay out of our way to get around chain controls on the Socal grapevine. This was just a continuation on the theme of the week - really crappy weather before, during, and after We had two days to hit the shows and both days were cut in half by the weather - a large percentage of the dealers at both shows had battened the hatches and ran for cover by early afternoon - even before the rain as someone else said. I can't call the trip a bust but for the first two days it certainly was headed in that direction. I was at least able to stand in the rain and blow almost my entire budget on two large slabs of vein#1 red Prudent Man plume agate. It was the top item on my mental-shopping list item so I'm thrilled about that. Was also able to pick up a handful of one-off stuff to play with. The one dry day after what felt like a hurricane on Friday, we tried to get in a hounding trip to Brenda but got out there to find our road in across the desert floor looked like this and felt like jello. Saturday afternoon/evening after breaking down our camp and finding a place to dump in Q we pulled our trailer over to Desert Gardens for another awesome bbq at Tony's. Tony and [edit] Chris [/edit] installed some cool rope lights this year and it had an awesome effect on the party - lighted up the area so you could actually see what you were getting on your third trip back to the goodies tables

Super happy to know you got home safe despite the inclement weather. No doubt I5 was a RV we rented leaked at 2 windows and soaked our bedding. Made for a cold night. At least the furnace was actually helpful! Did I see those #1 vein prudent man? Big slabs of whispey red plumes?

Just got back last night as well. Really wet coming back near Searchlight, which got over an inch of rain that is a whole lot for the desert.
This was my first time to the show. Spent most of the first day going to the wrong places. I saw a bunch of tents and some signs about ricks coming in to town and ended up at two swap meets before finally finding the actual show.
Nice meeting some of the members at Tony's BBQ and great food. Thanks everyone.
Jax had a great time but really wore her out.

Ha. How was the wind? We went to our prospecting club's Araz claim between Christmas and New Year's for a week. Two days (Tuesday morning) after Christmas, we were in the trailer and Bob opened the door. The wind tried to rip it right out of his hands. He knew if he let go, it would slam right into the side4 of the trailer. Instead, he held on, and was unceremoniously jerked right out the door, and tossed onto the ground. Looked like someone being sucked out of an airplane in flight! He was okay, thankfully, no broken legs, knees, ankles, neck, didn't strike his head on a rock... Dodged a bullet there. The wind howled for more days than it did not.
Tommy, how well were you able to get around on your mending ankle?
Sorry that I missed out, not sorry I missed the bad weather. No fun driving in high winds pulling big trailer. Had some of here, too. Was BBQ'ing some more marinated carne asada (flap meat) here last night around 4pm. The winds were the worst I've seen in some time!!! Almost lost my avocado tree, wind about pulled it up by the roots! Lifted the ground up in about a six foot radius around it. Would have been helpful not to have so many big avocados on it, but, you know. I think once they are all gone for the year, the tree needs to be topped again.
So all y'all went to the BBQ, Tony had blue rope lights strung, making it more festive. Ya know what we say here... That's right, PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! Jean

What, that little puddle stopped you? Ha. How was the wind? The wind was horrible haha. At times our little trailer was rocking and rolling. Never in any danger but it does make for a long few nights. Little puddle?? the picture doesn't do it justice... if you look hard there's another one even bigger just past it. We tried to find an alternative route around it and got into an area where the ruts were full of water and the middle and sides were jello. We eased out in 4-low and said to hell with that - not worth getting stuck - and having to walk out on a bad ankle. Veeeery carefully... yeah it wasn't easy. Walked slow, limped heavily. Who said blue??? It did happen and they were white No pictures that I know of.

Dag nabbit - I knew we should have had name tags LOL I think Charley met Jax but I'm not sure. A lot of people were so busy talking they never introduced themselves. They looked my way then went back to talking. But I was the tall, somewhat thin guy with the beard and mustache with a really cute dog at the end of a leash.

Hmmm, they said you left early. You should not dress in the cloak of invisibility.
