I'll post my entry now because my wife has demanded that I take my photo "studio" down temporarily. It's set up on the dining room table and she mumbled something about "Christmas dinner...." Oh well. So I shot images of the slab and cab but forgot to get an image of the preform. My first cab from Cherry Orchard agate seemed a good idea but when finished it didn't have the holiday spirit. It was sort've blah, ok for a cab but not quite what I had in mind. After some thought I remembered some bloodstone slabs I squirreled away and decided on it. Here's the result. The idea is a kind of a stylized Christmas tree with lots of red ornaments. Slab Finished Cab

As for before photos, ether preform or slab is ok, so long as there is a predecessor to the final product (I might need to clarify that)

Getting a slab picture should be much easier than remembering a preform picture. Since I get a lot of slabs form ebay, it should be easy to grab that image. Not that I can participate for awhile. Not unless we have a long freaky Indian Summer.

Here's my entry, a nice jasper from Indonesia: I dropped the slab on the way to the slab saw, the universe had other plans than boring ovals apparently...

Nicely done timloco. Quite a few interesting jaspers coming out of Indonesia these days. My favorites are from the group they call Pancawarna.
Bloodstone: have heard about that material so often, yet have to come across material as saturated with red as your fab piece. Super layout, and as usual immaculate workmanship.

Here's my entry - hot off the dop. Green moss agate of unknown origins, reminds me a lot of the winter moss we get in the oak trees here in northern CA. This is the slab it came from - I too did not get a preform photo - or even a photo of side of the slab it came from. If my lack of following the rules compels folks to not vote for it then I'm OK with that.

I think all of us know you to be honest and your cab will go into the vote list. Honesty and integrity go a ways and if people aren't honest we could tell. As you seen from my slab photo we all make mistakes but honest before photo mistakes will not disqualify someone.. but we try not to let it become habitual ether.

Re: blooodstone, I go back a few years as should be obvious from my posts. The saturated reds on pure green used to be fairly available, especially the disparate little red speckles on dark green that used to be the definition of bloodstone. But over the years the choice material has slowly disappeared and has been replaced by lower grade chalcedony with yellows, oranges, some red, and various shades of green now sold as Indian Fancy Jasper (and sometimes called bloodstone). I salvaged this slab and a few others from 50 pounds of material I acquired back in the 1990s. Most of the shipment was the standard "fancy" stuff, often pretty but not really bloodstone.

Ain't that the truth! "Real" old fashioned bloodstone is practically rare. I don't care for the fancy jasper, at all. Show me that blood splattered green stone and I am happy.

Starting to get hot over here at this time of the year, expected to be 38c (100F) for the next 5 days, so I doubt I'll be spending much time in the shed. So here's my entry Jasper from Tanunda South Australia If it's allowed I would like to enter my wife's first cab. If not, just sharing that I got my wife to try. She grabbed one of the preforms that I had started, and went from there. Bloodstone. It took me a while to find a photo of the rough. Forgot to take a photo and had to rely on one that was taken when I picked up the old collection it came from. Hoping everyone has a safe and happy Christmas. Less than 4 hours to go before the 25th.

Nice workmanship on both cabs. Come on in with both cabs, the more the merrier.
Happy holidays everyone, hope you all enjoy time with your dearest......

I will accept it but it would be great if she could get an account for herself in the future. Your wifes cab turned out nice for a first, we encourage new people to join in. Might i suggest using a polishing pad with aluminum oxide polish. I think that will really make your cabs pop so to speak.

I lucked out, the water in my grinder was melted! Sooooo, today I got my entry done. This is a slab of unakite I got in a surprise box recently from my good friend Ted ( tandl ) on here. I tried cutting a high plains drifter styled Christmas tree I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend! Here's the slab: And the preform cut: And here's the cab: One more showing the polish: Thanks for looking! Nate

NDK - definitely one of the nicest unakite cabs I've seen even without the bonus inside curves. Lots of very nice thematic cabs entered so far. Keep them coming!
