My favorite filler is ceramic media and a close second is pea gravel. Both can go through all of the stages with the rocks. I only use pellets in polish because they can't go through the various stages and I hate separating them.
Peace,
Rich

Looking forward to seeing the progress of your stones. I think the stuff from your alley is pretty darn good.

After 3 months this batch is finally done or almost done...one more day of burnishing to see if that improves the shine. I almost threw in the towel a couple of times when after 2 weeks of 220 there was no improvement and then decided to move on to prepolish and after 3 weeks of that there was still no improvement. I was pretty frustrated at this point and decided one last Hail Mary and went to the polish stage and after one week you see the results in the photo. I'm pleased with the way they're looking and my grand nieces think I'm the best thing since sliced bread I'm thinking now I could have skipped the 5 weeks of 220 and prepolish and went straight from stage one to polish? Also I have a much better idea which local rocks will tumble well. Next I plan to tumble the fancy rocks that came with the kit and while they are tumbling I'm shopping for the 4 barrel setup I talked about upthread. Safe to say I'm still in the game!
