No coral around Fanning. Gotta be on the Florida Ridge (along I-75) for the most part. 50-120 feet altitude. No matter, river is too high. Had you been going in Nov 2016....river hit what is probably an all time low. For 70 years anyway. The phosphate mine and other factors will probably dry that river up one day. At least during dry seasons. Should become a coral treasure trove.
White Springs and 60 river miles down is coral territory Halo, and hard to find coral by surface collecting, most is in the river bottom.

There is one beach in Key West inside the park that is full of it! They don't care if you take it either.

Either the forum software is being wonky, or I am psychic (not psycho, ha ha!).
I could swear I saw both Walt's and Franks last posts more than three hours ago.
Anybody else notice this? I am sick, but I don't think I am imagining things...

Saw a post yesterday or day before (I dunno, all the same to me) with a recent time stamp that I had read a few hours earlier. Jean, that is an affirmation that the time stamps may be experiencing wonkyness, but not meant to disregard the possibility that there may be some California Craziness in your vicinity as well. just sayin'

captbob , not just the timestamps afterwards, but that the posts were on the forum, then went away, then were posted again later. Thanks for the diagnosis of California craziness, lol. Garage Rocker , yes, deja vu all over again, fer shure, dude! FWIW, I am feeling much better right now. Amazing the therapeutic effects of a hot shower! Not to mention my greasy hair is shiny clean, and no longer plastered to my head!

I will turn you on to coral locations if you are moving there. Best if you have a kayak. for either GA or FL.

Basically, the coral formed along I-75 from Valdosta GA to Tampa FL. A high ridge that was shallow water during a warm age. Fanning Springs is to the west but centrally located to coral range. It can be found in the Santa Fe and Suwannee Rivers cross under I-75 basically. Ocinifina (spelling ?) and Withlacoochee River starting near Valdosta and till it flows into the Suwannee. All over Pasco and Hillsborough county at construction digs. You will be close to a lot of coral. Keep in mind, it is about all under 20 feet of sand. So rivers or construction digging is needed to expose it.

Got it, thanks for the heads up, I will keep that all in mind, now the agatized coral would be heavier than regular coral correct ?
