jamesp, really cool corals & trip pictures. I must admit though I'm more interested in this picture on your Flickr acct : Why? Sarah Palin is a gun carrying Hottie!

jamesp Stalker? I resemble that remark. Did you have a choice ? As far as being found guilty; I think a male judge would understand.

y'all? Side note Bob, did Sic 30 coarse, to 12 days AO 80(no slurry, 30 RPM, 80% fill). After 48 hours in AO 14,000 a shine is starting in rotary. Guessing they will polish in 8-10 days total.

So the rocks had a 30 grit grind and then 12 days in AO 80 What was their condition after 12 days of the AO 80 - surface equal to a run in 500 grit? 1000 grit? You know what a rock looks like after each grit stage, so what did the AO 80 take them to? Assuming you did not recharge the AO 80 as that was not mentioned. Would a recharge in AO 80 or simply a longer run have been beneficial? Just getting into the coarse AO world, fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Be fun to run a load of rocks in 6 months rather than a year. Less clean outs & grit changes RIGHT up my alley!

Hard to tell with 500-2000 finishes... No AO 80 was added. Never had to do nothing. And I pulled rocks after 5 days in AO 80 and held them till polish and took photos so I would remember them. Will see if 5 day rocks get an equal polish to 12 day rocks. Because 5 day rocks were not much different than 12 day rocks...

Not sure how something on crack rolls ...? Don't have (have not had) any issues with how the barrels are rolling though.
I have replaced the shafts (front & back) with stock Thumler's shafts. Bought at the Rock Shed.
Had problems with the rubber roller sleeves on the shafts disintegrating - cheap Chinese rubber.
Bought new roller sleeves and the round barrel guides from rocktumbler.com to replace the cheap Chinese parts on the shafts that came with the blue tumblers, just haven't gotten around to swapping out parts yet.
No problems since replacing shafts with stock Thumler's shafts. Barrels have been rolling for around 10 days now with new shafts with no issues and no more rubber sloughing off the rubber rollers. They quit going through belts in a quickness since shaft replacement as well. Wondering if the softer Chinese rubber rollers were actually allowing barrels too much "traction" and putting added resistance on drive pulley belt. Whatever it was, I was going through drive pulley o-rings at about one every two days. Been 10ish days (since I swapped out the shafts) and I have not had to replace the o-ring. WAY good.
What is your blue barrel doing?
ETA: what RPM are you getting on your blue barrel? Mine just do not run anywhere near the 40 rpm the eBay listing said they do. Still can't complain at that price.
