We've had some really weird weather. High 70's. This weekend it's suppose to snow!!! I've been taking advantage of the nice days. Nice big solid piece of morgan hill poppy. owyhee flower jasper yellow feather jasper- I love this stuff. It is hard and takes a great polish, but it is so damn prone to fractures!! This started out much different. another yellow feather- smaller Kabamby Ocean Jasper Kabamby Ocean Jasper big cab of leftover rhodo from a really nice slab. I cabbed up the good bits and decided - waste not want not some super tubes in agua nueva no cracks, just some healed stuff. This is much nicer in person. a little piece of variscite I love this one- the black is metallic looking (didn't turn the water black, either) and took a good polish, the pink is super saturated. Big cab. A little saw scrap of super hard chrysocolla- I think it is from Peru. angelite - simple yes, but you can't beat the color. A really gemmy Wingate Pass Death Valley agate. This is from some old stock I picked up. Nice big cab with very little undercutting. This is some weird atlantisite (stitchtite in serpentie). Rather than being extremely soft, it was fairly hard with no undercutting. crazy lace- the black is metallic Guadeloupe saw scrap. Not bad.... Some b grade stefonite- this was a thin piece of end cut. The back looked a little better, but I cabbed the rough side. Again- waste no, want not. Thanks for looking!

That's a super duper set! The poppies are fantastic. The second rhodo is second to none. And the wingate pass is superb.
Peace, Rich

On the rhodochrosite, was the metallic area very tough? As in actual manganese? That would be cool!
Thanks for the show!

It polished well and has a charcoal black silver color. The water did not turn black. It didn't undercut and the rhodo next to it did not undercut. But, it did seem harder than the rhodo. This piece of rhodo was harder than usual. I did one the other day that was like butter.

I'm saying that is native manganese. Pretty bold statement! Lol

Where's the "eyeballs popping out" smiley for that wingate? Wowzers! Love all of them but that one's my favorite.

Thanks everyone! I figured that Wingate would be popular. That was the best shape I could get from the slab to get the best plumage. I would have liked a better shape.
@shotgunner Is manganese special or something? I admit, I was a little surprised by the material. I haven't run into that before- only the really black stuff.

Not really. It's just cool to have free metal in a natural rock. Any other mineral would blacken water as u noted. Seems like it has to be native metal. I like that!

The Wingate is the winner, seems it is almost unanimous! (But the rest are no slouches, either)
