I just won a dual (2 X 3lb barrels) tumbler from e-bay for $58 (plus $10.50 for shipping)... "new in open box" Didn't think I did too badly. I'll be up to 5 barrels when I get the unit.... Now, I gotta get some more rocks ebay, here I come!

Now I had better get lortone's contact info for parts. How long before these things break down?

It all depends, mine ran for several months before I had problems, some have problems right away. I guess I'd check into finding some belts as soon as you get it. You could take the belt down to a hardware store and see if you can find something similar. One person on the board here used a vacuum cleaner belt and it worked for them. Mine wasn't the belt but the drive / fan pulley, it's plastic and the belt actually wore right thru it.

Alice, yes you just bought a ce. You need to go back to Ebay and order some "O" rings. The belt that comes the unit is crap and may last you a week at max. The vindor on Ebay is called Jungel Lord and he sells them at a buck apece and they work for me. Jim

I don't think junglelord sells on the Canadian ebay. His shipping is pretty high so to Canada it would probably be out of sight. You can check the automotive shops too Alice.

Alice make sure the two pulleys that the belt rides on are aligned. My brand new C/E came badly misaligned. I straightened it out before I ever started the unit and it has run fine now for a couple of months. I believe the Lortone belts (for 33b) will fit the C/E. Good luck and happy rolling! Joe

I have no problems in buying from sellers who only ship to the US. I just use Hubby's U.S. APO address. But the down side is that I have to wait a long while before it reaches here.
Odd thing is when 'I' ship him something it takes about 2 weeks for him to get the box (Which is not long at all considering it's coming from Canada). But when I have things shipped directly to him from either e-bay or and actual store from the states, it takes about 2 months. Does anyone else who ships to APO addresses have this problem?
Thanks Joe & Cher in letting me know of the problems I may have. Maybe I'll just post it back on ebay and just cross my fingers that a Thumler's tumbler comes back on the canadian e-bay. I'll see when I get it, and decide from there.

I've had mine for over a year now, and it ran fine for about 4 months before the belt went. I put a new belt on it but it never ran quite right even with the new one. That was because the fan/drive pulley was breaking and I didn't realize it. I got a new (lortone) aluminum fan/drive pulley from the Rock Shed, hubby drill a bigger hole in it and it's working just fine now. You might be able to use it for quite awhile before it dies.

The CE are ok- the motor is really too small for the 2 barrel so think about an upgrade- I use Orings I get from the tractor supply store (I post the size somewhere on the board) the trick is to not have the belt too tight-

Thanks Stefan I have a few John Deere places in the area. Maybe I'll bring the belt in to them to one of them and get a replacement before I even plug the unit in.
or, do as I said before... stick it back on e-bay and hope I get my $ back.

Nah- The barrels (Lortone exact knock offs) are worth the price of the whole unit! I would run it till it pukes then replace the motor with a Lortone- and keep er revving!

LOL, I just got a free dual tumbler! The CE that I won said "new in open box" in the description. When I got it, I opened it and it was clearly used. So I wrote and complained to the guy who sold it to me... He gave me a full refund, and I get to keep the unit. I love transactions like these the motor seems to be working, but I haven't filled the barrels up yet.

Cool Alice- Gotta love that! He probably did not want the negative feedback and figured it was not worth the trouble! I would only run Light Loads in the barrels- at least till you get a backup motor!

you're right stefan. He probably doesn't want the negative feedback. He said he sent me the wrong tumbler. I highly doubt it though, he wasn't selling any others at the time, and still isn't selling any.
Well, I loaded up the barrels and stuck them on the unit. We'll see how long it takes for it to break down. One of the barrels had a leak. I just had to adjust the rubber lining on the inside (I'm not used to these kinds of barrels. I have 3 Thumler Thumblers).
So do rocks take longer to shape in these barrels? There's no "hexigons" inside like the Thumler barrels. Just round like a jar.

Just curious and hope I don't offend anyone, but does anyone else find the pics of the ads for teresa rocks a bit offensive? I wanna look at the rock for sale not her chest.

I was going to post about Teresa's Rocks last week. I think it's really funny. It's the obviousness that tickles me. Usually sex sells. Here it just amuses.
