On her website she recommends 4wd high clearance vehicles. Hard to get one of those from a rental place - what's your take on vehicle accessibility at Singleton? I have a 4wd with good clearance, just saying... On your way , if you can take a little northern detour , I would be right on your way . Just saying also . That is some beautiful material you have down there . If you find yourself running out of room to store all that , I could probably make a little room .

I was there in October and only a couple of the locations require a 4x4. And you can always hitch a ride up a hill if needed. One of the guys managed to get his 2-wheel drive truck up Telephone Hill , which was about as extreme as it gets there. There's a 90 degree turn in the middle of the hill followed by deep loose ash and then onto rough rock. All in one run-up. He would have made it first try if the 4x4 in front of him wouldn't have stopped where it transitions to rock. He had to back down and take another run at it. Great fun! I'm planning an October trip when temperatures start to drop. It's not just the heat, it's the rattlers. Lots of deep brush and snake gators are advised if you want to find the best material, even if temperatures are mild. They also protect you from the cat claws, cow horns, or whatever you choose to call those skin ripper spiked plants. FYI...The more times you go, the better it gets... Craig

Cool Craig, if you're interested in organizing something, I might be interested. Thanks for the info on the road conditions - I'd just rent a small SUV then and hitch up the steep parts. You can keep the gnarly driving - I like it only mildly hairy!

Teri probably won't post her fall schedule until September, but when she does, I'll float it out there. Even if it's not an RTH trip, there are lots of great folks there to meet.

I didn't have any problems in my 2013 Ford Escape. It's a 4 cyl. with "intelligent" AWD. I wouldn't consider it 'high' clearance. It was a rental vehicle before I bought it. Later, jeri
