Thought I would finally updated this thread after 7 yearsπ
I ended up ordering 3 of the 14β slab saws and the 18β, so far best thing we have bought for the club, absolutely no problems and the original blades were very good, we only had one problem with one of the 14βs and that was when someone improperly loaded a rock and it became loose and bent the blade. I get praises from all of the club members all of the time still as they remember all of the problems of the previous saws. π

I just pulled the trigger on a Highland Park 14" drop saw. I figured with a reduced size and the ability to cut with water, I can do without the bells and whistles while I cart it outside when I do cut slabs. I can recommend my HP 10" SS trim saw however even though I've only been running it for half a year. It's a pretty good beast, very heavy duty and if you need something with a thinner kerf, you can slap on a 6" blade for finer detail work. My only complaint is that the optional vice is tiny. I had to get a couple of larger bolts in order to use it.
