Ordered a flat rate box of Obsidian from Jason at Hinkle's Rock Shop and received it in 3 days!! Very nice rough and very fast shipping. I got some black and mohagany, 20 pounds plus for around $15 with shipping. Exchanged some email with Jason, owner of the shop. Very nice guy to deal with.
As a side note, USPS beat the heck out of the box. They must really hate these cool flat rate boxes!!

Got my warm springs today as well, my box was 'like new' but I've had others that barely made it to the door.

Well add me to the hooked on this deal, he has raised the price on the warm springs to $6.99, still a deal if they are good rocks, with shipping less than $1.00 a Lb. at $16.09 total, if he sends me 20# , it will be about 81 cents per pound. Terry

Does Hinkle's Rock Shop have a Web Site? That sounds like a good deal. Trish

Greetings to all! This is Jason from Hinkle's Rock Shop.
First off I'd like to say Thank you for the awesome feedback! Second I Thank you all who have ordered these flat rate boxes of rock from me over the past weeks/months! I really appreciate your business. I'm glad several of you emailed me back and mentioned about this website. I used to tumble years ago and have not touch one since. Just prior to you folks emailing me about this site I did purchase 2 tumblers, So now I'm back "rolling"!
I appreciate the feeback about the boxes. I'll be sure to start taping them better than I have. I got to thinking and I wonder if the folks who had the boxes break apart might be the ones who got wet boxes. Sometimes the rock I pack is still damp and with all our recent rains transporting them to the post office has even got them a little wet.
Last thing I appologize about raising the price on the Agate boxes. As stated when I first started selling this I had a slug of small 2" and under Tumbling rough pieces. Well all that is mostly gone, So I'm now starting to ship these larger nodules and partial nodules which some have good cutting quality. If anyone does decide to cut this material... This Agate was very popular to cut thin and find the Rare Iris Agate. In fact when I first started I had a fellow email me and said he has Iris showing up in some of his tumbled stones.
The Lady I got this material from Originally was selling both the Agate and Obsidian for $1.00lb and then charging freight. I know from experience shipping can kill a person who's buying rock. This is why I went with the Flat Rate boxes and cut the price where the Rock and Shipping total figures out under a buck a pound. I'm trying to offer you folks a cheap source of usable rock and at the same time you folks are helping me clear out some room in my backyard for which I can use for more Thundereggs ;D
I do have other stuff as well, Pet. Wood, Agate, Jaspers and more! The problem is alot of this material is larger chunks and needs to be broken down. If I can locate a crusher, I could produce a ton or better of great tumbling rough for you folks. So far I cannot find a crusher anywhere!
At anyrate Thanks again for Everything! I really do appreciate it!
Jason

Jason, I just ordered a couple of boxes. When I get these, I may just have to order a couple of more of the Agate. Thanks, Trish

I got a box of the agate and one of obsidian. Came very quickly and the material looks good. Price was great and my boxes arrived in very good condition, even though some of the material in the agate box was damp it didn't seem to hurt anything. Thanks Jason!!!! PS - I'll get some pics up if you haven't already

Mine came on thursday and it weighed 25 pounds as packed for $13.09.
i have some in the tumbler now, oh, um i mean ADAM has some in the tumbler now!!
when we were breaking some of it up one piece turned out to be hollow inside with very nice crystals so we save the pieces.
i'll post a pic of the rough tomorrow if no one else does, i just put in a new hard drive and i have to get my FTP software loaded first.
cheers jerry

I bought one of Jason's Killer Green Agates couple of months ago & I love It! It was split in half & polished. (puuuurrrdddyyyy!) If anyone in the Oregon & Washington area get the chance to go to The Dalles, I highly recommend it. Been there a few times just to hang out & it's one of my fav. small towns to visit. (just a sleepy little ol' country town, not fer city slickers) Hoodriver is just next door & it's turned out to be a world class wind surfing city. (The Gorge, IMHO, is one of the WONDERS of the world) Hinkles is one of my next destinations & it only takes a little over an hour to get there from where I'm at AND I'm gonna try my hand at a little search & rescue of the rock. (Of course...all within the boundries of the law!)
